Does anyone know how the Samplitude midi editing capabilities compare to the competing products (especially Cubase)?

Well, I own Samp 8 pro and still use Sonar for composing if that tells you anything ;)
Midi has improved a lot in Samp, but its real strength is still in the audio department, imho. If you record lots of stuff it's hard to beat, but if you are using mainly vsti and midi you'll propably be better of with another host.
But don't take my word for it, there's a demo available.

Looks like an incredible deal atm.
Wonder where the catch is ?
I couldn't care less for MIDI and Vsti support since I'm using SX, but it could be the ideal wave/sample editor.
Very interesting considering I haven't managed to buy Wavelab yet.

Topic title should not include word 'FREE' as it is not free for all. :uhuhuh:
Tools are tools, they don't produce anything...

Says 24-bit/96 kHz audio quality, with consistent 32-bit floating-point technology. Does that mean you can record in 24 bit?

I use Samplitude for everything nowadays, including MIDI and lots of VST's.
Over the years I've stopped using Cubase, Voyetra (believe it or not a pretty good MIDI app.), and Acid Pro.

The MIDI functionality in Samp. is plenty good for me.

The object-oriented non-destructive editing is awesome. It's also a great wav editor. VST's work as in-channel effects on individual channels or as inline plugins.

You can even lay a MIDI track over an audio track on the same channel and add effects to both simulataneously.

Yes it will record 24 bit, but the 32bit floating-point approach sounds even better.

This is a good from Magix. The long-time owners of the Pro version, like myself, are jealous!

Don't ask me, I just play here.

Well I assumed you could record 24bit in the retail version, I was wondering about the SE version. Thanks though.

If it says it records in 32 bit float, then you're in luck.

Think of SE as just a stripped down Pro version. It should be called Simplitude.

why does german keys always get such releases of software? surely these companies providing software would hit a larger market (and thus more exposure) if they went to a different magazine like computer music or keyboard??

that said.. 50 bucks to order it online.. is this mag going to cost that much this month? :hihi: wheres the incentive to order it directly?

From what I can put together, the magazine purchased these discs from Magix and is in turn giving them away at messe.
So I guess, if you can't get to messe, and want a low level samplitude, then purchasing this is the way to go.

BUT HOW do i do it from the USA man!!

had a look at the website of the mag and it doesn't look as if it was just aviable at messe, it's a regular issue sold at the retail market.

I'm wondering this myself.

Hmmm.. That would be great if Keys would allow the distribution of the ISO image to USA people via PM's or Email.. I mean cmon.. Im not too cheap to buy a magazine! But i just can't read german! And i don't think it is wise to give out your credit card number to over-sees websites. Hope someone can come up with a solution. I wonder if they will come up with convenient way to provide their publication to americans. Does anyone know any stores in the US that sell keys?
