I personally use sonar and fls, but I know here in america pro tools is king, even if we do not want to admit it. My question is, why does everyone rip on it so much. 32 track limitation? how many normally use more than that anyways. fxexpansion? pretty much all programs nowadays have some sort of wrapper in them. It can't be the price, pt m-powered is priced between 200-250 dollars, add the fxexpansion and your looking at max 325. I do not use pt but I know I will eventually purchase it, I just find it curious how everyone hates on a product so much when it seems to be one of the most popular and user friendly ones on the market. DON"T FORGET IT IS "INDUSTRY STANDARD"
when they ask who sent you tell them "I AM" sent you.

Dude, EFF "Industry Standard". Sonar is very capable, as is FL Studio. THere are so many top notch hosts out there, it's best to just try a few out and use your favorite.

well... your way of putting it will make people rip on it...fhinspectit wrote:My question is, why does everyone rip on it so much. 32 track limitation? how many normally use more than that anyways. fxexpansion? pretty much all programs nowadays have some sort of wrapper in them. yes, in some context its the "industry standard" but not the version you are refering to (TDM vs LE/Mpow).
most of the blames are on the closed prop system (digi or m-audio card)... much like the PC vs Mac discussion...
my only advice is; if you do alot of recordings and seldom midi, then it rules...

It is hardware dependant as a result NOT CRACKABLE, the biggest minus point. so it is not popular among net. SIMPLE.
there is no H2O for pro-tools sadly.
Pros are bound to spend huge money so they can afford it.
BTW serious people dont want M-powered S-powered and P-powered pro-tools.
Just kidding

Tools are tools, they don't produce anything...

version 7 seems to have addressed midi greatly. I know most studios use TDM systems. but ptle and m-powered outsale cubase and sonar in the states. m-powered now gives pt users more options in interfaces. I know all the host are great but I just am beginning to think there must be something to pro tools that makes alot of people use it and at the same time other hate on it so much

I did use Protools in the past. A damn fine system if you're in to audio recording. By far the best in my opinion. But i am mostly using VST nowadays so now i run Cubase.
Those "Protools sucks" kids don't know shit. They're trying to compare a hammer to a screwdriver.

The only reason Pro Tools has gotten so big is becasue it is in the major studios, although it is the HD systems, not the project Digi oo2 or Mbox or so forth. Even though these are good products, they only sell becasue of the name. They are no better than any other big hosts are good hardware..
A guy in my band who is just getting into recording and so forth wants ProTools.. WHy? "casue it s whats in the big studios." I try to tell him it isn't the "best" just because of the name,, but he wants the name, like an idiot and will probably go buy the Digi oo2.

Thats actually kinda of my point. Pro Tools isnt any better than any other good products. All products can go dick-up. Although I must say if I ever get the money I would get an HD system. THose should be the most stable and powerful I would think..??vurt wrote:actually the 002's arent all that hot, we have 20 of em and they have all gone wrong in one way or another at some pointKillvehicle wrote:The only reason Pro Tools has gotten so big is becasue it is in the major studios, although it is the HD systems, not the project Digi oo2 or Mbox or so forth.
