Ok, now that I have a very capable routing setup for any sort of guitar-to-amp-sim stuff (proper DI boxes and line drivers, 64 samples of latency, etc), I want to play it, that's all.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

The problem with his marketing plan is the Hype. Who here realisticly believes that this thing will live up to TWO YEARS of hype? I'm trying to not give up, but I can't help but be reminded of Y2K -- the over-hyping of the millenium. What product, no matter how good, can live up to the promises and expectations that have been given? I'd feel way more hopeful if this ampsim was treated like the new synth "Oatmeal." That thing was WAY under-hyped. We were not only surprised, but pleased. But hey, this is just one guy's opinion, and we all know what opinions are like.

P.S. Don't disappoint me Midiworks, do something soon. Do a limited release to some of the guys like Hink and Sascha Franck and Champion Rabbit and such, and let their testimonials assure us -- otherwise, we feel like fools waiting two years for vapourware.

An additional thought: How about distributing a few promotion copies to some of the reputable magazines or websites for review? Testimonials from reputable sources that we know and trust will help reassure us greatly.

Think of the promotional copies and advertising money well spent.

I don't feel like a fool for waiting 2 years for vapourware... it's not like my life was on hold in the meantime.
As for the "hype", remember that this thread is kept alive (and long) but a long list of contributors and people ASKING questions, too... not just a bunch of "hype" spouted by Rene, though of course he was entitled to talk it up a bit from time to time, or bump his own thread back in the day before he got shit on for it.

Ha! That's a pretty good idea!

Send me a copy! I'll eat my words with a side-order of humble pie if the plugin even exists, let alone sounds good.
On a seperate note, Midiworks, just how many 'mystery' monikers do you have now? Must be hard keeping track of them!!

Is it possible to be more specific? So in the end, all those delays mean nothing else than giving you an even better amp sim.
And this new function will make a big difference for everybody who will be using the amplifier in the end.
I know that you don't owe anyone anything, but keeping people in the dark is the best way for you to get critisized. If you make people part of the development process as you have been doing at the beginning then, at least there won't be as much frustration.
Btw Rene, you are starting to remind me a bit of Squids and the way he announces AT2 as the best invention since the guitar pick with all of your marketing hype. Honestly after scanning most of the thread, I still don't know what you will be selling when the product will be done. Is it an ampsim with "plugins" for different amps? or 20 different amp sims?...

HEY man thats all good yu got ideas, BUt I am a songwriter and I hear new ideas every god damn second, MY wife always makes fun of me because I am alwasy nodding my head and writing songs in my head at dinner, sitting on the couch, whatever.. MY point is, there becomes a level of TOO much, and you need to let it go, becasue it is very easy to over analyze something to death, Be it in songwriting, plug-in devolopment, life, whatever,, but usually in the long run you most likely wish you hadnt tampered with what was initially the strongest impression. Since that is the real magic of the whole idea in the first place..Midiworks wrote:Actually, I never said that.Killvehicle wrote: If not, Midiworks could have had a real winner and he said it isnt about the money, but when this sim was holding its own(at least seemed like it was) that should be all the motivation one man needs to get his sim out before the big boys (IK, N.I) and cash in like a motherf**ker,, but I think he blew it... or he was just way off in his estimates, which is understandable, but he did say it was basically finished... SO who cares really, I lost all interest in this
After all this time, efforts, energy and money invested,
we NEED to have a winner.
Okay, it is my fault, that I always come up with a new idea
but this one, I really, really wanted inside the amp for quite some time.
So in the end, all those delays mean nothing else than giving you an even better amp sim.
And this new function will make a big difference for everybody who will be using the amplifier in the end.
A few days ago, I downloaded the demo version of one of the major players amp sim.
Okay, maybe this sounds arrogant, but I really laughed my butt off, what they give you for $500...
There were simply worlds between the two amp simulators.
So, some may say, we are too slow releasing but the difference to any other amp Sim
is so huge that I'm not worried in the slightest that you will feel the same,
the moment you will be able to get your hands onto the thing.
Apart from the distortion, responsive simulator and some effects,
everything inside the amp is totally new.
The whole way the engine is working is built on a totally new concept
and this new concept is simply working fantastic.
In the end, you, the users, will profit from those many inventions
that came together over this long development period.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

It's an expression related to professors and scientists. Without publishing new articles or research, the funding dries up or the tenureship (in the day) is never attained. Now it's the same for scientists, but for professors it's more like your contract won't be renewed (many universities having done away with tenureship) or you'll simply be forgotten because you're not contributing to the ongoing "dialogue" of your field.
