that's probably nonsense as no so such restriction is mentioned and the list of differences Ben provided is rather extensive otherwise...bambooman wrote: it will probably allow you to use MAX 4-8 VSTi

I can assure you, the activation thing is the same as with a'normal' sam version. We agree with our pro customers that it's often no good to have a production machine connected to the internet. Therefore, you can print out the serial number and apply for the activation code on a second machine (by pasting the address in the browser). You can also phone us or send us a nice letter via snail mail, if you want to.bambooman wrote:if it comes with a online-activation,
it will suck even more,
if it were usable without a internet-connection,
then it might draw my attention.
Harakiri. Maybe good for some users, but how do we earn money, feed our families and develop new software? Samplitude is our main code base (yes, for the consumer tools, too), but it's no secret that we need a sane consumer market to continue developing professional tools such as sam and - especially - sequoia. Smaller companies might have the luxury to concentrate on a specific user base, but, alas, we are more people that can fit in a garage (okay, the core team started in one of the founder's living room actually, but that was in '93 or so...)bambooman wrote:they should have kicked out a free version

)?

We bake and sell seperate language versions, but afaik, they won't be switchable.AndreasE wrote:sascha, is SE also a multi-language version (and even in german)?

Does that mean the new Keys Issue comes with a DVD this time or is it: "60% audio reviews, 40% data" while 30% of it is Samplitud (and that for the next 3 months?!)?
Nothing against the Samplitude coders, but way to go then "Keys". Still look forward to the next issue, however - but I guess it's slowly time to "switch" finally. German magazines are so dissapointing lately.

It looks like bambooman was right. I suspected as much anyway. Frankly one can plug EXT into this thing to get round it anyway.jens wrote:that's probably nonsense as no so such restriction is mentioned and the list of differences Ben provided is rather extensive otherwise...bambooman wrote: it will probably allow you to use MAX 4-8 VSTi

Wow, that list looks quite impressive...
they seem to have cut down mostly in the right places. Biggest shortcoming I see in SE is the puny 5-level undo. Otherwise I'm even tempted to go and find out where I can get this magazine in Spain.
The mind boggles.

Not sure what it will be like for certain but if it is anything like Samplitude 8 it will be a step up from Tracktion for sure.Scooner wrote:Is the timestretching/pitchshifting in the free version likely to be any good? As a Tracktion 2 user, I'm bound to see an improvement right?
Looking at this thing closer I see why it costs less than MusicStudio and MusicMaker...
SamplitudeSE does not have...
CD burning
DVD burning
Elastic Audio
Tapesimulation
MAGIX Mastering Suite
SampleTank 2 MX
DVD-Audio authoring
Maybe more but SSE does have rewire. Not sure if either Musicmaker or MusicStudio have rewire (Not midistudio/Logic V.?) which I think has.
But the biggie with Samplitude SE is the upgrade path. No such thing for any other Magix product at this price point. Reason alone to get it for most probably.
No Algorithmix plug-ins either in Samplitude SE !
Scroll down for the price of these plugs...

seems people jump on me, for my thoughts about the samp.SE
well, it's easy to catch that samplitude is just not my bread+butter.
just wanted to calm down people from the big hype
about SE
since it is the same like using cubaseSE, that's all.
plus, not too long ago it was quiet "unprofessional"
to express in public "i use magix products"...
since most people would think of magix as a brand
for children-toy-software...
