Sascha it will with certainly eradicate good content from the internet by taking the actions I am currently following - I will be removing the good content and along the way adding restrictions - so in essence change the broadness of the auditorium to a more refined membership.Sascha Franck wrote:I wouldn't happen to know.
Sure, I could as well just hire some personal space for around 10-20€ (there's quite some reasonable offers), but this is exactly what I wouldn't like to do (let alone my webdesign skills being less than even existing). I really love the idea of everybody being able to participate and having everything sorted in some nice forum-style thing.
Oh yes, there will allways be freeloaders, but perhaps these costs could be covered somehow.
See, while I perfectly understand things, I don't exactly like restricted stuff. In order to build up a nice, interactive sample sharing system there need to be a lot of people contributing. Restrictions will keep quite some of them away.
That's why I'd rather pay for the freeloaders as well than keeping possibly worthwhile contributors out.
The Auditorium grew because it was both free and open (as open as it can be on the internet) guys need to log in to upload or post. Big files needed a block, so guys needed to log in to access them - having big files wide open on the net takes even the most powerful of servers down, pretty fast with popular content.
If there was a way a funding scheme could be devised on a monthly basis by enofe people who share the similar ideas of free but good content, and don't mind paying for the freeloading. Then I could reverse the actions and carry on building up the auditorium as it was.
If I can get a number of people interested in that - I can then work out a funding scope and offer different subscription payments to those that wish to sponsor on a monthly basis - not all will be able to afford as much - but a number (some paying more than others - selectable payment option from a page) it could very well work. Those that pay are in fact supporting the auditorium and all those that cannot pay (as they simply cannot due to no work, illness etc) and also fund the freeloaders (the nameless mass downloader)
I will put something up on the internet and make an announcement - with subscription payment options - Edit - I will try it like that with an open end.
I will try this, and refine it as it goes, from feedback etc.
Best regards,
Peter
