and you have to manually look at each e-mail address and figure out which version they need?tq wrote:What's so difficult about sending an e-mail? And don't tell me it's the number of mails... I am taking care of a newsletter that goes out to about 2000 users, and usually, all of them have their mails in about two-three hours, even in remote parts of the world. And let me guess: No e-mails this weekend - the Internet does not work on Saturdays and Sundays in Italy...

Isn't that why God invented databases?SJ_Digriz wrote:...and you have to manually look at each e-mail address and figure out which version they need?

SJ_Digriz, last time I checked, IK had all of my data in their user area, including the date of purchase/registration, the product, serial number etc.. I doubt that it would be too difficult to check automatically who needs what using this information.

the key's aren't hard to find. most music stores that carry pro audio software should have one.t-willy wrote:well at least there's a group of us with no emails. kind of shitty how they're handling the key though. "you can buy your own now or wait 8-10 MORE weeks and we'll send you one." sounds like a little tactic so they don't have to send that many free ones out.
ah well.

that's not the point. when i bought AT1 (again) to get the free upgrade, i wasn't told about the option to get your own key for faster access to the software or wait two more months until they sent me the one i was promised for the free upgrade. its all principle at this point. yeah i can go get a key for 20-30 bucks, but then i'm not really getting my free upgrade am i?

t-willy is correct. ik has all the info they need to dynamically generate a "mass email" in a matter of SECONDS that can be sent to EVERYONE with all the correct info per individual at once. there's no way around that one.
and no...those keys AREN'T that easy to find. i literally bought the last one in this area. -- i don't live in the states anymore and music gear (while you can find some stuff easily)--some of it is NON existant here--it's sooooo weird. i was told that ordering one here would take at least a month--hmmmmmm.... i'm just lucky i found one. it would have been nice to know i needed one MONTHs ago!!!! which could/ should have happened in the "thanks for buying amplitube 1!" email that went out after i put down the cash.

...just think how far that would have gone to minimize the frustration and anger that so many people are feeling right now. Now that is smart business.pthuriot wrote:it would have been nice to know i needed one MONTHs ago!!!! which could/ should have happened in the "thanks for buying amplitube 1!" email that went out after i put down the cash.
Well, I'm outta here. No e-mail today. Looks like I braved an Adirondacks rainstorm for nothing. Looks like no earlier than Monday.

Putte,
Would you please consider just posting a few samples of the same raw sound processed with the same AMPs on GR2 and AT2?
I understand if you don't have the time.

Ah yes, the mythical "Just click Send" argument. Yep, that only takes a second. Your amazing e-mail skills should have you running an IT department (into the ground) in no time.pthuriot wrote:t-willy is correct. ik has all the info they need to dynamically generate a "mass email" in a matter of SECONDS that can be sent to EVERYONE with all the correct info per individual at once. there's no way around that one.

it's not about programming. It's about logistics. The program is perfectly capable of doing what you say. Putting together the process, making multiple versions of an e-mail, attaching the correct e-mail to the correct account, attaching those to the correct authorization, writing the code to handle the "decision tree" inside the e-mail, making sure you have the bandwidth, etc..... All of those things, and more, don't just happen.pthuriot wrote:hehe...unfortunately...yes...i CAN write that program. :p it *is* that simple. (and no i'm not IT--but can/ do program -- so stop there
I work in an environment where normally intelligent people make really un-intelligent decisions based on faulty "all you have to do is...." thinking on a daily basis. Hell, I'm probably one of them when I make requests from people who know what they are doing and I don't.
From what I can tell, the download option was added after the fact due to Squids getting IK to do it. So, they did NOT have months to plan it out. They are creating the process as we type. Adding the download as an option greatly increases the complexity of the process.

Are you serious about this?!? Probably not... Do you imagine that IK hired 10 monks who make hand-written copies of the registering e-mails sent to them, then check each individual hand written copy for purchase date etc., then pass it over to the e-mail-monk who writes individual AT2 mails for each customer...? Well, given the history of this thread, this isn't absolutely improbable, but if they are not completely out of their minds, then they have a database and getting the correct e-mails would be just a matter of a few minutes, using a few checks on combinations of two or three fields (product + purchase date, in this case). Why they spread the sending of the e-mails over several days is beyond me - it's just frustrating for the ones that did not get their mails so far (including myself), because they probably assume that something went wrong.SJ_Digriz wrote: Ah yes, the mythical "Just click Send" argument. Just read this, sorry for my lengthy mail before. This makes much more sense now. However, I disagree - we are not talking about the downloads, we are just talking about a mail stating that there will be downloads in a few days. Delaying this mails does not really make sense, don't you think? It's frustrating the customers, which seems to be one of these cases where "intelligent people make really un-intelligent decisions based on faulty "all you have to do is...." thinking on a daily basis."SJ_Digriz wrote: Adding the download as an option greatly increases the complexity of the process.

Just got home from MusikMesse... and nearly got killed on my drive back home... and not just because I was very exausted... but because it started to rain VERY heavily VERY suddenly and I didn't see a thing anymore (and that with 160km/h)
but hey - I made it.... and I can't wait to finally play with amplitube2 again.... it's been so cool jamming with it at Messe... it's so different playing it yourself then listening to demos
