Sure... but it's more effort. I usually know the sound I'm after, so I can just render it instantly. One of the nice things in Cubase, btw.jens wrote: I don't think so - what's wrong about rendering afterwards (after you've chosen the best take)?

I wish someone would finally come up with a reasonable freeze function, so you could record, then freeze the effects in place while still being able to move parts around (maybe the full version has it like that?). Would be even better if one could freeze FX partially (like "please only render Guitar Rig but leave the phaser untouched").
Haven't even tried that yet. Been drinking with the other folks here on tour. Will check that tomorrow.b.t.w.: what do you think about the internal amp-sim? Imo it's great sounding and very flexible.
vista: you can save the file as well, at least from what I've seen... can't give it a try because I allready registered.
Would be a shame if one couldn't reregister in case of changing computers. Maybe I should just get another 1-2 copies of it...

I'm not sure, but I think Samplitude's freeze-function offers this (which is totally missing in SE) but I know for sure that Sonar'S freezing works like this and I also know that I (as well as others) have been begging Jorgen to the point of harrassment to add object freezing until he finally said 'yes, on the list' so I hope it will be in XT2 - fingers crossed...Sascha Franck wrote:

That'd be great...jens wrote: I'm not sure, but I think Samplitude's freeze-function offers this (which is totally missing in SE) but I know for sure that Sonar'S freezing works like this and I also know that I (as well as others) have been begging Jorgen to the point of harrassment to add object freezing until he finally said 'yes, on the list' so I hope it will be in XT2 - fingers crossed...
The problem being that object/clip based FX (or whatever you call them) usually aren't something you could use on a realtime input. So, you'd probably have to record through a plugin, then save the settings, then copy them to another instance of the plugin applied to the object.
You can really cut, copy and move frozen parts around in Sonar? That's just great.

yup - and why not? They're just a bunch of .wav-files after all - so why not treating them like .wav-files? - everything else seems strange and even absurd to me - not the other way around...Sascha Franck wrote: You can really cut, copy and move frozen parts around in Sonar? That's just great.

Don't tell me. I allways said so.jens wrote: yup - and why not? They're just a bunch of .wav-files after all - so why not treating them like .wav-files? - everything else seems strange and even absurd to me - not the other way around...
But then, of course things *could* become problematic with overlapping effects, maybe that's what programmers are afraid of. I know, not a valid point at all - I mean, it'd still be up to *me* to decide on cutting an overlapping delay part.
Besides, most of the time overlapping FX (if not included in a synth) sit on busses, which wouldn't be affected by freezing anyways.

even if the (say) delay is on the insert that's notz really an argument because why shouldn't the 'add tail'-option (eXT offers up to 10seconds which should be plenty of enough in any case) apply to freezing as well?
but that's just one of the many things which usually are different in most sequencers than reason suggests - why do most of them do not offer to delete a recorded .wav from your harddisk when you hit strg.+z straight after? - etc. - don't get me started...

having played with SE for a while I can clearly say:
phew - eXT is not in danger of getting abandoned by me - Samplitude's workflow is still a mess in many regards - tat least for my way of working it's not nearly as intuitive & flexible as eXT even though it has many great features...

Do you mean a special upgrade price or the whole shebang?just heard from a friend of mine who is also a friend of a Magix manager, that they will sell Samplitude Pro for 1/10 of the regular price for a very limited time in the near future.

I take my statement back!
It's just that the helpfile is a terrible mess!
(in the 'Keys'-magazine they write that the helpfile was good - don't want to know what the bad ones are like then...
