I'll be waiting a while to see if this is buggy like the last two releases.

but hopefully not :) I'd love to use a good version of AcidPro again...

In the past Sony has had sticky links in the forums for upgrade discounts or email if you're signed up for it. I've never had the "Net Notify" enabled in any Sony product so I don't know if that works. I've asked on the ACID forum. Musician's Friend has the upgrade at a substantial discount for USA and Canada.

Here's the kicker: It's just a dumb database tool, so you can keep all of the stock Sony backgrounds and crap indexed. Basically, it's for wedding video editors; "Search Word: ROSES" - that type of thing.

It's almost as cool as Apple forcing you to install iTunes just to use Quicktime - even if it's the "Pro" version. F***ing criminal, man.

Watch out for that root kit :hihi:

The Media manager comes into its own with Sonys Acid libraries. Also, in V5 having it enabled made the load time exessive whereas now there is no real difference. I get every Sony library suppled to me as a contract perk, which ammounts to hundreds of thousands of files and the manager is exellent for me. Just download the reference library and it will find all Sony library content and every loop/oneshot has multiple tags regarding genre, key, bpm and you can search by instrument type etc.
I do have to say that without having sony libraries pre defined id never use it as it would be too much work to do it myself.

No-one is forced to use it.....deselect it in prefs.

anyone trying the demo yet?
i just installed it, and trying out the groove toool, but it sounds fecked. must be doin something wrong here, coz it sounds like ACID is playing both the grooved version of the beat as well as the original. glitchy, but not in a good way.

anyone? :)

Wow, I didn't know anybody actually used it! That's great, good to hear.

You are forced, however, to install the .Net framework whether you use it or not, and endure the "could not initialize Media Manager" messages until you find the "Enable Media Manager" option way at the bottom of the Preferences. I mean, the thing doesn't even work, after two reboots!

Don't get me wrong; longtime Sony/Sonic Foundry user. Just not a big fan of the whole idea.

OK, just got the email from Sony with the $129 upgrade deal. Not too bad. But I'm not even installing the demo until I hear what havoc (or joy) its causing.

What problem is that? I had no such message while trying the demo of ACID Pro 5 and ACID Pro 6.

I get it every time I install/reinstall Sony apps.
