Setting up Logic to run Receptor2006-04-01T04:27:19+00:00Hi does anyone know what I will have to do and how to do it in LOgic Pro 7.1.1 in order to get receptor to work. I am not understanding if it is a new environment that needs to be created or is it easier than that? i.e.: How intuitive will Logic be to SEE and USE Receptor?
I am buying a fully stocked Receptor tomorrow morning.

Hi,
We're waiting for the Audio Unit uniwire plugin to be released.... I was hoping it would have been at musicmesse ( ). without this it's not really there. You can use the VST uniwire plugin via the FXpansion wrapper but you have to jump through so many hoops thats it's not really a viable solution.
You wont need to do anything in the environment as the communication is via the audio instrument and FX slots. Once the AU plug is released things should be great.....

Hey, hey.. it's a party.. I want to party too...... Please don't ask me about Mac's tonight. www.grizzlymedia.co.uk
I didnt say anything about UNIWIRE. I'm talking JUST receptor.
Anyways I wouldnt want to use Uniwire because the the good folks at MUSE told me that it puts a HUGE drain on CPU and there is LAG. But -if you want to use Uniwire go ahead its been offered as BETA for some time now. (vst of course)
The people at MUSE told you that it puts a huge drain on CPU? I thought the point was to spare the CPU cycles...can someone who knows shed some light on this?
No-my mistake. (me bad) No cpu drain. But latency's an issue. Yes with the AU which they told me today is ALMOST ready and it will use Logics own latency offset so the AU version should be sweeeet.
Using the native VST uniwire plug in Ableton Live 5, I am able to run with a 512 sample buffer in the Live software, which translates to 1024 on the receptor. So, yeah, latency is an issue. Fortunately Live compensates, and you can still use the Receptor normally if you need to.
It is much worse using the vst/rtas wrapper with the uniwire plug in pro tools. But the overall implementation is pretty snazzy in Live. Another topic entirely, but I am so fed up with PT (le and mpowered) being crippled by lack of latency compensation...Im using Live for most everything now and I feel much more, umm, fulfilled. It's a very cool program once you start thinking in a different way.
I wondered if you had read my post correct tmhuud.... lol
I'm desperate for the AU plugin... most pro's use Logic here in the UK and I'm putting of demoing Receptor to them till this is done..and time is money please hurry muse....

I am also desparate for it. Rick (Estavar?) over at Muse said he's working on a new build of UNIWIRE that works with Logic. He said hes testing it this weekend. If it works hes going to release a version of it to me.
Yep I've been promised the same..can't wait. AU compatibility is a must for the UK market as Logic really rules in a lot of areas.... I'm hoping the kind Mr Lanser is gonna come through for me on this

Well Al I am a bit dissapointed in my situation. I had to return the Receptor to Sam Ash or get stuck with it. I was abit misled by the UNIWIRE spec sheet I downloaded form MUSE. IT states Logic Pro compatibility which really is not true.
I did buy a 200 gig hard drive from MUSE and 2 gigs of memory from Viking which I will have to eat I suppose. MUSE is not willing to take the hard drive back and SAM Ash is holding the RECEPTOR until they can talk to MUSE. What a mess...
I am now researching putting together an 'orchestral farm' at the moment to bring some immediate rescue to an already overworked Comouter.
