I have been on this site extolling the virtues of Waves GTR, in my opinion the best available amp sim - that is until now. Amplitude 2 is breathtaking in it's depth of toneality and dimension. It is a triumph and there is nothing, nothing that comes close to sounding this good.

BUT, yes it is buggy beyond belief in Tiger. There are major Core Audio problems and Logic 7.2 keeps coming to a grinding halt too many times in simple uncluttered projects. I guess maybe this is why it took so long to release. There will have to be some kind of fix because as it currently stands, Amplitude is unstable in Tiger at all latency settings. Straight off the bat some of the pre-sets pop and click where some work without any hassles.

As I said above though, Amplitude 2 is the real deal and sounds nothing short of spectacular.

Would you please care to post some sound samples ( maybe as well some of the rendering of Waves GTR ) for the benefit of all?

I know listening to old Van Halen records in headphones is very distracting due to the panning.

The most distracting thing about listening to old Van Halen records is the fact that those records are so good.They were the best frigg'n band in the world with Roth as singer and they ended up becoming a sorry joke.

Can Amplitude 2 replicate the brown sound? You bet your ass it can and more.

We could split hairs on his intent, and parse the invent/create till the cows come home but the results would be the same. Al Gore is single-handedly repsonsible of AT2 not being available for the AT1 upgrade people.

Plexihead-

I agree totally! I finally got it working in Tiger. It is quite a resource hog. Some of the presets don't work at all without MAJOR pops.

AT2 sounds really good though. It gets you 85% there for what I would call good guitar tones.

The best modeling so far that I have used. I spent the last 5 hours dialing in about 6 presets that I'll use to start with most of the time. The 800 model is pretty good and the stomp boxes (especially the Memory Man and Fuzz) are almost worth the price of admission alone.

Still hear some artifacts when you let chords ring out. But modeling is getting better!
