If you have any vst/i that are just dll's (no installer) remove them one by one and restart acid, it may be there that the problem lies.stag wrote:This one i got rigth, as on any app first i set it up on preferences, settings or whatever.coldmachine wrote:Stag im sure you'll be glad when I say RTFM. There are multiple folders available in prefs. Hope this helps.
Anyway Acid as reached a level of complexity where RTFM is mandatory.
well, i set the folder but uppon scanning it quitswhat can i say more?

I dl's the AP6 demo last night and played around with it for a few hours. I've been a big Acid fan since V2. I admit I found V5 a little disappointing - pretty much the only worthwhile feature in it for me was being able to Reverse a loop! So far 6 has been pretty cool though - the new MIDI stuff is welcome, although I am having some weird results with it (notes not getting recorded all the time). And why in the world is Quantize Input not settable as a DEFAULT... good god.
Despite these minor things, my initial impression was pretty good. I look forward to spending much more time with it!

Here's some info though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.NET_Framework Man, what doesn't wikipaedia have information on?
just incase you do try it, do NOT install version 2.0. It's 1.1 that acid (and most apps that use .net) depend on.
For whatever it's worth, I've got .NET 2.0, and the AP6 demo installed just fine. And Sound Forge (which was installed under .NET 1.1) is also still running fine. But that's just me.
On the other hand, I think Media Manager is beating me up with RAM use. I've got a gig in this beast, and usually 650-700 MB free, but AP6 with SMM running drops it down below 400 in a big hurry and then starts complaining. It's crashed it at least twice. Now, it may be my fault -- I set it for a lot more than the default 1,000 search results. But, then, I've got a stupid number of loops and .wavs (>40,000, according to SMM).

It's trying to check for updates. Go into your Preferences menu and un-check "Use Net Notify to stay updated on Sony products."LIMITAPROACHINGINFINITY wrote:Why the f**k does acid constantly try to access the internet.. This is why i say.. f**k SONY!

The Media Manager has nothing to do with preventing copyright infringement. I have no idea how you could arrive at such a conclusion. It allows you to catalog your loop library and make it searchable by certain criteria, like name, type, BPM, etc. It's actually very useful if you learn to use it right.
To the people getting fussy about rootkits: You realize that Sony Madison Software is a completely different division of Sony than the one responsible for that fiasco? They share the namesake only, and otherwise have nothing to do with one another.

As I understand it, .NET 1.1 and and .NET 2.0 are independent things that can be installed concurrently, and apps that require one or the other will find the right one.filkertom wrote:For whatever it's worth, I've got .NET 2.0, and the AP6 demo installed just fine. I am loving each moment that I am spending with v6. Love that inline midi editing. As someone said earlier all the new features are good but came in pretty late. They should have put all these in v5. All those having problems with Media Manager or Acid trying to access internet, please note that both these can be turned off in the preference box.

This is how the manual explains it:M4M wrote:what is it with the pencil?
how do you draw clips now that each track is not a unique file now?
When a track has multiple clips, the Draw and Paint tools create events using the active clip.
Drag a file to an existing track in the timeline to add a clip to the track and add an event where you drop the clip. The new clip is set as the active clip for creating events with the Draw and Paint tool.
Check the manual for more information and screen shots.

.NET 2.0 is not backwards compatible with .NET 1.1 (and for a good reason too).Bassballjg wrote: This cannot be emphasized enough. And by the way, theres nothing wrong with .NET at all - it encourages and enforces better practices and methods from a programmers perspective to make better applications. And it doesn't take that much overhead (a fraction of Javas overhead).
