We'll probably crash it all trying to log on at once when it returns. :hihi:

I figure I have to spend at least 24 hours posting silly questions and inane comments to make up for all the lost time.

I'm so glad it's getting back. I felt like one of my limbs had been amputated...

we're that much closer to endless threads on analog summing emulation for fruity loops.

seriously though, this thread itself has kinda reminded me all the reasons i dont like osxa (mainly petty self rightious assholes...)

I defintaly missed the place for speculation about new products. For instance how many of you were dying to see some discussion on the new focusrite dsp box when it was announced?? No place else really has discussion right on the level of osxa, far from lowbrow yet far from highbrow.

ahhh whatever.......

Liquid Mix! Tasty. £499 -- When I first read the description, I thought "that's nice, but it'll cost $3k so I'm not really interested." Ba-bango!

Also interested in first impressions as (hopefully) the new Apogee and Focusrite audio interfaces ship this month.

SFX Machine Pro. 'Nuff said.

Anyone get Virtual Guitarist 2, yet? They are telling me I got a serial number with version 1, which I don't think is correct (got an ugly brown box, a special copy-protected CD installer, and the manual), so I don't know when/if I'll be upgrading.

Between Musikmesse, Apple's 30th, and second quarter shipping dates, this was an especially bad time to have the forum offline. :(

Post

Yeah, the liquid channel looked nice... although with the noise floor at Messe you really can't tell if something rocks or rots... so we'll have to wait 'til it's in the store. But I have to say: if it is good, it's darn cheap. I still have to save for it though :-(

Post

.. i find the new splashscreen to be funny though .. :hihi: .. "due to travel" .. hrhrrh.
not that i dont belive it .. nah, i totally belive it.
but that's exactly that: tdc doesn't have the time .. ;)

It's still there, but jbjbjb was the only one who has visited this time around.

Here's what I know. Tony's schedule from about the time that OSXA disappeared until around the end of March involved a number of very heavy sessions at the Opera House. Now he is on vacation for a month and apparently finally has some time to at least update the emptiness. Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine, but rest assured that we'll be back in business at some point.

As far as the cross platform bit goes, I wouldn't be too worried. I think Tony believes that platform matters less today than ever before, that many if not most folks use multiple operating systems, and multiple hardware configurations that are not necessarily as OS dependent (PT for example), and that being Mac only doesn't serve the purposes of audio professionals. From what I have seen, the Windows questions that have cropped up at OSXA have been answered quickly and thoroughly. Personally, I don't expect us to be overrun but Win crackers and FL Studio fanboys. That said, you folks are the ones that set the vibe at OSXA, the ones that created it. If we do get more Win traffic, you'll be the ones who will be leading by example, teaching the ways of OSXA as it becomes BBL.

Anyhow, time to go find some threads to hijack. Anyone know any good forums for that?

Well that's all good I guess? but KVR here serves that cross platform purpose, as well as a dozen others. The real issue was/is that mac users, as a minority in places like this, end up having any thread posting mac specific interests highjacked by PC zealots. You moderators will be constantly busy in a way that you weren't before, and a large part of OSXA's charm will be lost IMO.
I for one don't have much of a problem with the mac specific nature of OSXAudio of yor, as a long time mac user, I like the relative peacefulness and homogeny of knowing that 99% of the software discussed would work with my hardware....
I always talk about getting a PC, but something always comes up. recently a friend, a REALLY good friend! is giving me a dual 2.5 G5 for next to nothing!

So what the hell do I need a PC for? :D :D :D :D

Post

I have to agree on this one. The main reason I don't like KVR that much is, that it's just plain too much. And the BBL somehow had a nice exclusive vice to it.

Ah well, it's not my decision, we shall see. I don't _have_ to be there :-)

Here's a cool forum for the Logic users among us: http://logicprohelp.com/

Post

Yeah, I'm registered over there too, let's see what the BBL will be like and perhaps I'll have to get my edutainment from there...

BTW Ned: Hope all is fine!! Sorry, for being so quiet...

Cheers

Completely agree on this point as well! As I said in a previous post, I don't use a PC for ANY creative endeavors. Whether I'm making music, editing video, doing graphic design and/or working with digital images, it ALL gets done on a Mac. Why would I have any interest in wading through PC-related information on my (once favorite) music/audio site in order to get to the Mac information?

IMHO, the changeover from OSXA to Big Blue Lounge is a giant step in the wrong direction! :x

Maybe tdc was just ahead of the curve on Boot Camp?

Yo Hans! Alles in ordnung, man. I'm just a bit bummed out these days as I can't seem to buy a gig! And I don't mean Gigabites!! I won't give up, though... unless I win the lottery. :hihi:
