Forgot to say: a right-click (osx: control-click) on the position display in the Transport Panel also rewinds to position 1.0.fycfung wrote:Thus, there seems to be no way to get back to the beginning of the song (except by holding down the rewind button). Bug with vertical scroll bars
Summary: Vertical scroll bars are not aware of new tracks created automatically after recording a new audio or midi part.
1. Zoom in so that the tracks fill the screen vertically.
2. Note the status of the vertical scroll bar.
3. Record a new part
4. The vertical scroll bar is not aware of the new track and you cannot scroll down to view the track.
5. Zooming out then in cures this to some degree, but the view of the bottom track is not quite whole.

this is exactly something i was going to ask for... so yes please!What about this possible new option: double-clicking the rewind button goes back to start of song?
(or to really make it nice - first double click takes transport back to start of selected clip (if there is one), second double click takes transport back to song start

I agree with Hengy, trying to get back to the start with the mouse is cumbersome. I'd have the first click however go back to where the pointer got dropped on the time line. A ff and rw per se seem less useful because if a specific spot is aimed for, it's best to open up the appropriote editor, audio or sequence. I do like, however, that stopping playback doesn't automatically jump back to the beginning as occured in another familiar studio of frequent mention.
Maybe too late for this next one but for me a control U for undo and control R for redo with a shift to get a drop down of which recent change is to be affected is more intuitive than control z or shift control z. Maybe those shortcuts are already taken for some upcoming function or z is a holdover from some other studio? As the shortcut list grows it seems the easier to remember what an alphabet letter will get, the quicker use gets fluent.

thank you so much! trilogy is my most used plugin. now all i need is to update and i can start using luna as my main host immediately!On OSX, a vst plugin can come in 2 formats: CFM, which is the format of the older OS9, and MachO, which is the format of osx itself.

muzycian wrote:Were there any other programs open which could have "taken" the midi ports?fycfung wrote:I've noticed sometimes that I cannot access any MIDI ports even though they are available on my computer, when editing my MIDI player (I only see "None"). A reboot seems to solve the problem. Perhaps that's a sound card issue or something?
What about this possible new option: double-clicking the rewind button goes back to start of song?Also, I had commented on how the "Close" button for the piano roll editor is placed in what I think is a very awkward position. Just to elaborate: trying to set the player back to the beginning by clicking on the time bar above the notes, right at the beginning of the song, is just the same place as the close button.
Thus, there seems to be no way to get back to the beginning of the song (except by holding down the rewind button). Actually, I think I would find a "back to beginning" button very useful, even more so than having a rewind button.
You definitely got a point.Regarding MIDI instrument settings: Thanks, pljones, I guess I hadn't really thought much about hooking up fancy MIDI hardware. But I think that also brings the point that probably a significant proportion of Luna's beginning users (e.g., new readers of Computer Music) are going to have only a MIDI sound card, or maybe a GM-capable keyboard. It might be worth helping them out a bit with some GM instrument settings or at least a hint as to how to change the instrument setting when associating a MIDI player to a part.
I'll think about it...
(though it won't be for 1.0)
Probably it was the interference of some other program, though I closed everything; the drivers are giving me a lot of problems.
Regarding double-clicking, that sounds OK, though I confess I think an extra button with "<<" would be well worth the real estate. Actually I'm not really sure when I would ever use the rewind and fast-forward buttons at all; if I want to go somewhere, it seems like I would just see it on the screen and click to it, rather than being forced to hold down some button to make the line scroll back to it at some slow speed (unless maybe there's some audio to it, e.g. playing it fast in forward/reverse).
Thanks!

Regarding the Rewind and Forward buttons:
So what about this:
Let's forget the double-clicking idea, and let's redefine the functionality of these buttons:
Instead of going back or forward in the more traditional way, let's go back and forward to "locator positions".
A single click on one of these two jumps to the previous/next locator in line.
Currently the important locator positions in a composition are:
->Start of composition
->Start of first selected part
->Loop Start
->Loop End
->Last manual set position (via click timebar or edit in transport)
->End of Composition
Lateron, user locators may be added as well

Fully user-defineable shortcut keys will come later.guitarfrodo wrote:Maybe too late for this next one but for me a control U for undo and control R for redo with a shift to get a drop down of which recent change is to be affected is more intuitive than control z or shift control z. I like the idea of user locators. Many years ago I liked this feature in Master Tracks Pro on my Atari ST. The ability to attach text (lyrics ?) to markers would help some of us.muzycian wrote:Regarding the Rewind and Forward buttons:

A quick way to get back to the beginning of a composition is still necessary.
I am finding beta 6 very good at the moment. Fan noise is much lower than some other popular hosts.
