Hello everybody,
I am a potential receptor buyer and would like to know if anyone uses lcd display connected to receptor during live performances. I was thinking of getting one (a 7" lcd display) so I can see what patches are currently loaded on receptor. Any insights, tips, recommendations (like what brand, what size) are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
TK

I ordered a dirt cheap 8" touchscreen TFT a couple of days ago. I haven't recieved it yet, but I'd be glad to report how/if it works. Here's a picture.
In theory any touchscreen would work. Most have USB connection for mouse control, others have PS2, but since the Receptor supports both USB- and PS2-mice, this should work.
If you're not looking for a touchscreen, any monitor that supports 1024x768 resolution should work.

I have a 7" touchscreen LCD connected with Receptor. Unfortunately, the touchscreen feature doesn't work. It requires drivers and a calibration program installed to the device it's connected to, and the Receptor doesn't allow users to do this themselves.
7" for 1024x768 can be vague, cause it's emulated to this resolution. I can see what plug-in I'm editing, but I can't read the characters (patch names, knob names, etc.) very well. In the shop a 8.4" look as clear as a 7", but now I regreted that I hadn't bought the 8.4" instead of the 7".

Pretty heavy too. 40 lbs.
I use a 17 inch LCD and a mouse at any gigs I do. Easy to read while gigging and always gets comments from other musicians and members of the audience.

I use a Lilliput 7" monitor with my laptop, running Forté... It's very compact, have touchscreen and the display is really good. I put it on top of my keyboard, slightly at an angle and it's perfect... I have 2 of them, 1 (brand new) is for sale if you're interested

It will work as a display, but you can't use the touch screen, as someoned mentioned, you need the USB driver installed in order to use to touch screen... If you are interested, PM or send me an email at nguyenxuanvu@yahoo. com.
Thanks,
Kenny.

Actually I have a tip that can help you with the resolution problem. I use a Virtual resolution of 1024x768 in my X server that runs the Receptor host application on a small TFT (native resolution of 800x600). Of course you have to "pan" the picture with your mouse, but it works really well (and no scaling is done by the TFT so the picture is as clear as it can get).Arys Chien wrote:I have a 7" touchscreen LCD connected with Receptor. You can read about how I fixed this in my FAQ. (Some Linux knowledge is required, how to edit a file, save and such).
Also, if you have a keyboard connected, you should be able to switch between resolutions. For instance, switch between unreadable 1024x768 as an overview (when you se all meters etc) and a 800x600 view, when you need to tweak stuff in your plugins. I haven't tried this myself yet, but in theory it should work (if the host application doesn't snatch the keyboard switch combination Ctrl+Alt+Keypad+/-).
