Receptor on Sonar 5 Producer via UniWire

Please forgive me if this is old news. . . .

However. . .

I recently updated my happy Receptor with the latest Systems Version: Beta 1.5.2006 303. I also JUST updated my Sonar 5 Producer program (Sonare 5.1).

It was my understanding that the Receptor/UniWire plug-in wasn't ready to work with Sonar 5 (now 5.1).

Well, they seem to be working together now!! :)

I'm happy! :D

Anyone else?? Any positive (or not so positive) experience with Receptor/UniWire and Sonar 5?

Also. . .

I have been using the Receptor/UniWire plug-in with Cubase SX 3. They've been working together nicely for as long as I've had Receptor updated with the Beta 1.5 and the UniWire software.

Life is fine! :)

This means that probably Sonar has fixed the problem. It was working before, except that when you save a file, and later re-open it, you had to open the UniWire plug-in and set the channel assignment again.

Can you do this? Instantiate UniWire. Make sure your Receptor is selected. Choose "Send MIDI to" channel 5. Save. Quit.

Restart Sonar. Open the saved file. Open the UniWire GUI. Is your Receptor and channel 5 still selected?

And BTW, this is not old news. We fixed this problem too - we are still testing our fix. But, we didn't know that the latest version of Sonar fixed it too.

Hi Dan -

I'm just happy that Sonar 5.2 and the Receptor via UniWire work together.

Prior to the recent updates either with Receptor or Sonar, the two were not working well together using the UniWire. At least they didn't work together using my set-up. :( (When UniWire was deactivated and I used the Receptor via midi as an external device, all was fine. :) )

Well, I followed your request and saved an activation of Receptor on Sonar, via UniWire. Even saved it high-lighting channel 5 within the Receptor. (Beside enabling UniWire within the Receptor, I clicked on "Bypass Midi Filter".) Unfortunately, Sonar did not remember to re-activate the Receptor after closing then re-opening the Sonar file. No sound. All I had to do, though, was click on "UniWire Instrument 1" within Sonar's synth rack, and the Receptor was re-activated. Channel 5, within the Recepter remained high lighted and remembered.

I guess all is fine??? :?: :?: :?:

But at least the Receptor works using UniWire within Sonar.

I don't know which upgrade "fixed" the situation. But I'm happy with what works now.

Hope this was helpful. :)

Thank you! Your comment was a nice surprise! :)

Curious. Do you work in the healthcare field??

No need to answer. It's none of my business. But your post made my day. We work hard on our happy little (part-time) production business. And we hope we bring a "kick and a giggle" to our fellow nurses/healthcare professionals. :)

Hey Ted,

No, I don't work in healthcare, but having diabetes since I was 8 (30 now) I have spent lots of time with doctors and nurses, and I know what a great job you guys do. I just think it's a great idea that your entertaining your fellow medical staff and giving them a great time away from what I guess is a pretty stressful job! I'v never seen anyting like it in the UK!

Keep up the great work!
