Hello. After all "i am worried about my dongle" things i decide to download CSR demo and to use my Cubase dongle for testing in trial period. So far everything is good in my dongle ;) This preview is inspired by "CSR pants down" thread and by need to test reverb that will possible suit me for drums. This is not another my reverb A is better then your reverb B (or any kind).
This is not any test or something. And it is good to know that i am not reverb tweakhead and i am not tryin to be one ;) Just a preview and hopefully a little helper if someone need more examples from CSR. Oh and please sorry for my bad english ;) Patches used in this preview can be downloaded here

here are my examples.

First example. Medium Plate patch used.

Drum loop 1 dry(basic drum loop with kick and hats etc.)
Drum loop 1 medium plate mix 40(loop with 40% wet mix)
Drum loop 1 medium plate mix 100(loop with 100% wet mix)
Drum loop 1 medium plate mix sweep(loop with sweep from 0 to 100%)

Second example. Room patch used.

Drum loop 1 dry
Drum loop 1 room mix 40(loop with 40% wet mix)
Drum loop 1 room mix 100(loop with 100% wet mix)
Drum loop 1 room mix sweep(loop with sweep from 0 to 100%)

Third example. Drum Plate patch used

Drum loop 2 dry(hats).
Drum loop 2 drums plate mix 40(loop with 40% wet mix)
Drum loop 2 drums plate mix 100(loop with 100% wet mix)
Drum loop 2 drums plate mix sweep(loop with sweep from 0 to 100%)

And finaly more elements. Whole loop with only these 3. patches used as Sends. Every instrument is affected by CSR. Mixed by personal taste ;)

Loop dry
Loop wet
Loop changes(switching from dry to wet)

My own opinion...it is realy great reverb and this is my next purchase that is sure. Sound is outstanding and IMO (as Kingston is mentioned somewhere in "pants down")comparable and in many cases even better than Lexicon 960 impulses on noisevault. I did not played with hall and inverse (just quick preview)but i am sure that even there i will find some good surprise :) Overall sound character is exactly what i am looking for. If you need spatial or subtle changes with clinical controls CSR is for you. Metallic or grainy sound??I did not find anything metallic or grainy inside unless of course i put something metalic or grainy through :) Sound is warm and very very musical at least to me ;)

How is comparable to ArtsAcoustic? IMO they are both very different. I still cant get good plate sound from AA. CSR is waaaaay better here IMO. Rooms are good in both devices. AA and CSR. CSR will give you more controls but AA has that good musical sound. I dont know anything for CSR Hall. So far AA is outstanding in big halls, arenas etc. Inverse? Well this is good bonus from CSR ;)

My advice...buy CSR and buy AA and you are in reverb nirvana ;) You wont need anything for looong time.

Cheers 8)

EDIT - 19.04. - new files uploaded

example four - Standard "vocal weird ambience" patch used

Drum loop 1 dry
Drum loop 1 inverse mix 15(loop with 15% wet mix)
Drum loop 1 inverse mix 50(loop with 50% wet mix)
Drum loop 1 inverse mix sweep(loop with sweep from 0 to 100%)

example five - Standrad "breathing drums" patch used

Drum loop 1 dry
Drum loop 1 inverse mix 15(loop with 15% wet mix)
Drum loop 1 inverse mix 50(loop with 50% wet mix)
Drum loop 1 inverse mix sweep(loop with sweep from 0 to 100%)

example six - reverb checkout in plate, room, hall and inverse with 50% wet mix

Checkout hall
Checkout plate
Checkout room
Checkout inverse

enjoy!

Those are great samples there! and thanks for the patches, I'll try them out when I get home. I have to agree, CSR's plates are amazing for pretty much everything, from drums to vocals or acoustic guitars...

No problem 8) Those are standard patches (cant remember which one) but slightly modified to "sit" better. Just tweak them until you are ready to go. Use A-B comparison often.

Yes plate is outstanding. Can enliven anything. From one istrument to overall mix

I recommend you do a "Drum loop 1 dry" demo of the inverse reverb as well. The most useful starting point (imo) is that last preset on the list. Can't remember what its called but it's a kind of short inverse gated sound (named "weird...." something). It would sound awesome on that drumloop, and any percussion in fact.

I will do that tomorrow ;)

could you plz also run these demo wav through the 4 different algos of CSR....

http://home.arcor.de/rd50info_site/soun ... eckout.wav

This would be really really great.....

This would affect my decision to buy or not buy the CSR Pack.
Maybe you ll find the time...

( 4 x 50% dry/wet samples would be enough )

Thx alot.

Mmm, I had never noticed that the tom sound was also already « reverbed » in that so-called 'dry' sound.

But was it worth mentionning ?

you are right. But that may not be a big problem... :)

Just for the sake of comparisons and all, here are a couple of examples using two totally different reverbs...one quite "vintage"... in an effort to get reasonably close to the original CSR reverb on the loop sample.

Drum loop Rev1

Drum loop Rev2

Original CSR Rev Loop

Hey goldearies,

I would be eternally grateful to all of you if you could use some free verbs in these comparisons as well!

The reason is that in these topics are guys that can tweak the plugins far better than me. And although my ears tell me something, it's the fingers that I don't trust. For example Ambience has quite a many knobs that affect the sound, and maybe some of them should be left alone (use a better eq etc)...

..and maybe getting some real life comparisons could persuade us skimps to buy some proper plugins :D

I don't know, just an idea but could be interesting?

Look. I know ambience. I have almost same in cubase called Roomworks. Both are very good when you hear what they can deliver for free. Buth they are not good like CSR or ArtsAcoustic.

For CSR you will need dongle if you want to try it out. ArtsAcoustic can be downloaded and tested without any dongle. Do yourself a favor and try to test both. Just tweak them and read manuals. ArtsAcoustic has realy nice manual.
