well I'm going to have to go with the first one, but I've been recording a long time... the second one would be very confusing.

I'm not sure why you would need the aux in THAT situation, although there might be others, but usually you can just copy and paste automation information across tracks if you're really anti-aux.

you're not paying by the track, what is it your trying to save here? lay it out like that and then bounce it if you want. or do the crossfade thing. I don't see the problem.

but if you like it like that I'm pretty sure tracktion works that way, as many others have pointed out.
