OK just a few more to add - Sonar (is it the same as Project 5's method), Samplitude, Podium and Acid 6 (that I can think of)

I just wondered has anyone written a dedicated midi learn plugin? - is that possible (sort of doing what Bidule or Chainer can do but without the extra features and preferably not a host)

Ableton Live:
Make sure that the relevant midi controller/keyboard has the 'remote' option ticked in options > preferences > midi/sync > active devices > input.
If it's a vsti/vst one needs to have lives own live panel view open in order to automate a control.
Then click on the 'midi' button in the top right hand corner.
All automatable controls will be outlined in blue.
Twiddle the relavant controller & a boc will appear at the bottom of the screen informing you what channle & cc number has been assigned & whehter it is relative or absolute.
there are also scroll boxes for assigning minimum & maximum values.

I'll try and consolidate the list when I have them all - still waiting for an explanation on how to use this Generic midi thing in Cubase and a couple of others (Sonar for example).Ben [KVR] wrote:Maybe this could make a good tutorial in the KVRwiki ?

Thanks - still sounds a bit confusing to me - maybe if I had it in front of me but I'm not familiar with Live at all. (I need screenshots maybe or is there a visual tutorial somewhere??)diverdee wrote:Ableton Live:

It's dead simple - I guess I should take screenshots & post them somewhere, unless someone else does.
Once your controller set up to automate it's basically click (automation mode on), click (on the controller to be automated), twiddle controller knob, click (automation mode off).

I *could* do the Cubase thingy, but not for the next days.

I'll make a few more edits as I go along - still getting the hang of the markup.
