Anyways I believe I have kind of a basic question/concept regarding Rewire. Quick backround-
I have been doing computer recording for years(basiclly vocals, bass, guitars) and now want to incorporate vsti's in my projects. This is where I am a newbie. I do have Reason 3.0 which in itself I really like.
I have been trying demos of different apps to rewire Reason with( Reason as the slave-so I can play the Reason instruments.)I seem to be able to get most of the process working.
My understanding of Rewire is that I can send the audio from 1 program (Reason)as a left and right stereo track into Sony ACId Pro 6(for ex)to record.
BUT- 1)Lets say I drag a drum loop into track 1 of Acid Pro 6
2)If I try to record the audio from Reason into track 2 It records track 1 audio(drum loops)as well as the Reason audio.
Obviously this is not a problem if I was to record say a guitar track from my POD into track 2 instead. I just choose the Line in on my soundcard and that is all that is recorded.
But with recording the audio from Reason the only time it will record into a track is if "What U Hear" is checked. But of course this will record everything (including the track 1 drum loop) So obviously you see the dilemma.
This seems to happen with any app I have tried -Adobe Audition, Sonar 5, Sony Acid Pro 6
SO I ask
Can this even be done with rewire or is there something that I am expecting that it can't even do. Am I getting a basic concept all wrong
I am using a SB Audigy LS and I am using a M-audio midi keyboard controller plugged into the front USB on my computer.
Thanks a lot -could really use the help!!!!
