Hi all, Kontakt2.1 is due to be released end of this month with many enhanced features. Will receptor be ready to load this up?
Many Thanks
Phil.

Well, I got Kontakt2.1 working on Receptor as an "unsupported". Anyone running it on Windows with Kontakt2 already installed and authorized on Receptor should be able to do the same by following these instructions:
1) create a new folder called "Kontakt2.1" under "Unsupported Plugins" and put the Kontakt2.dll from your PC here.
2) rename this file to Kontakt2.1.dll
3) copy the files "NI_IRC_1_1.dll" and "NI_DFD_1_4.dll" from you PC folder "WINDOWS/system32" to the receptor folder "WINDOWS/SYSTEM"
4) click the install (with unsupported checked) in receptor. I got a message "your database has changed..."
5) look in the Kontakt2 folder on Receptor. Edit he file Kontakt2.1-info-cache.xml changing these tag to the values below:
<vst-plugin-name>Kontakt 2.1</vst-plugin-name>
<vst-plugin-description>Kontakt2.1</vst-plugin-description>
<uniqueID>Kontakt21</uniqueID>
6) triple-click restart with the multi button held until it says "loading" to rebuild plugin cache
You should now see Kontakt2.1 in your VST list. Lanuch it and click on the NI logo to check the version and insure that DFD is also installed.
THIS VERSION HAS A NEW DFD VERSION!!!! I'm hoping it might improve performance of large piano libs. So far I haven't noticed much difference, but I've not played with it much.
CAUTION: do this at your own risk. I've not idea if Kontakt2 and Kontakt2.1 can really co-exist in harmony on receptor. I've not done a "rebuild the database" in 2.1 for fear of hosing up 2.0. One NICE thing is that they share registry entries (no re-auth required) and they share FXBs, so the patches for 2.0 show up in 2.1. Nice.
At this point, something very stange is going on....all my pianos are coming our in MONO.
Reckon I'll be up late tonight....
EDIT: (2 hours later) folks, I took it off. It's not worth it. Let's wait on the Muse Guys for this one!
1) DFD is not better at ALL
2) sharing the registry entries is a bad thing. There are several things you can do in 2.1 that will hose up 2.0. If they COULD have separate registry entries, I could make this work, but they cannot
4) MUSE GUYS: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE see what can be done about DFD performance on Receptor. Kontakt2 is a "flagship" product and RULES in many ways. But if the DFD performance cannot be optimized for receptor (the way Ivory's seems to be) then it is pretty worthless for large pianos and the like.

We will have to provide the Kontakt 2.1 update as a user installable installer in order to have it work safely and check out the new DFD and so on. Will let this thread know when we have it. You are right, sharing the registry may mess things up for 2.0 as the original files are elsewhere while your update is in Unsupported, just my guess.

Farhan, can you provide an update on when we might see the Kontakt 2.1 installer? Sounds like this upgrade may help the DFD streaming. I'm surprised more folks aren't asking/clamoring for this.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes yes, please consider this a "clamor" as well, Farhan. Thanks in advance!

ya know I'm looking at this receptor thing, and got to say: kontakt 2.1 is a MUST. I would guess that MANY persons looking at such a solution would feel likewise. while 2.1 is quite a bit more efficient than 2.0, it's still quite greedy {dem's de breaks}, and if it won't go on receptor, receptor may be a no go.

Add my voice for K2 2.1, but also for SampleTank 2.1 (so I can run Philharmonik).

Unless you know something I don't....SampleTank2.1 cannot play the Philharmonik soundset. Rumor is the next big release of ST (2.5?) will be able to, because it will be Syncrosoft Dongled like Philharmonik (is "dongled" really a verb now?Kermit Jagger wrote:Add my voice for K2 2.1, but also for SampleTank 2.1 (so I can run Philharmonik).
The Philharmonik Manual states "Because of the updated structure of the audio engine MP is compatible with SampleTank software released after version 2.5.x". When I first read this, I thought it was a misprint, since MP came out BEFORE ST 2.1 and was reportedly "based on the ST2.1 engine". But apparently it's true. ST2.1 will "see" the MP sounds but if you try to load one, it just simply locks up...hard.
This is sad...since there is no Receptor support for the Syncsoft dongle, I fear we will never get plugs like MP or the Korg Legacy Digital Edition (M1 and Wavestation) on Receptor.

Yes, you're right. I've just read the bit about KT 2.5.
Still, ST2.1 introduced improvements to the stretch engine, so the update would be welcome.

Yes, agree, and hopefully add a little stability! ST 2.0 seems to crash my Receptor quite a bit. SonikSynth 2.0 is very stable on Receptor, which is strange since they are the same engine.Kermit Jagger wrote:Yes, you're right. I've just read the bit about KT 2.5.![]()
