OK i'll replace "," with "or" and underscore the most important thing.whyterabbyt wrote:I'll repeat what you originally said, and you can remind yourself of that:
Note that this is in direct reference to you claiming that Revalver should be renamed, so your context has zero to do with marketing or branding. Renaming a product does not build any automatic association with sex, success, or happiness. It is a basic marketing knowledge that a good product name is a name that associates in a potential customer mind with good things, sex, success, happiness.

Better ?
Ford Mustang: Mustang - a very beautiful, strong and quick creature. (a good thing)

Anyway - I really enjoyed this plugin, except, as I recall, the SE version that came with SONAR 1.0 kept kind of changing its sound every time it opened, I think...maybe I'm thinking of something else. Has anyone signed on as a beta-tester? Are they looking only for hardcore cats that know the inside-and-outs of amps, or will any old player do?

Try real examples, huh?Mutant wrote:Ford Mustang: Mustang - a very beautiful, strong and quick creature. (a good thing)
not
Ford Failure: Failure - (a bad thing)
Volkswagen Golf : a boring game (a bad thing)
Opel Manta : a big fish (huh?)
Volkswagen Beetle : a bug? (not a good thing, generally)
Ford Anglia : a British county? WTF?
And to bring it back to the point, Revalver is a worthwhile name to keep for this thing. Its got brand-name recognition, its got 'vintage' having been around so long, its got classic references (Valve) with a futuristic twist (Re-valve) in a way that makes 'Amplitube' sound positively dumb, and any negative associations with it being old in the first place would be removed by the fact that this is an all-new version (despite your inane comments about 'its got a 2 in it').
The one thing I'd really like to know, to the developers , is if its still going to have the real-world 'room' type simulation stuff still, and if that'll be extended to allow the use of more 'interesting' convolution sources (assuming it was convolution in the first place)

Well they *could* skip a version number like Steinberg did with VST 5 back in the day... you know, to keep up in the game.
(they did it again with SX3... sort of. featurewise it's still SX2.5)

Indeed. Or for that 'Spinal Tap' value.... Revalver 11...Kingston wrote:Well they *could* skip a version number like Steinberg did with VST 5 back in the day... you know, to keep up in the game.

Now *that* would actually work!
as a funny side note,
if the rumour mills are to be trusted (but from a respectable source), it looks like Steinberg is skipping version 4 again. It's a rather major update to both SX/nuendo, and there are plans or mergers possible, with nuendo SE/LE versions up ahead. The work name is Nitro apparently. Looks like someone at Steiny is superstitious of the #4.

4 is considered an unlucky number in Japan, AFAIK. But 'Nitro'? Aint PSP gonna be annoyed about that?Kingston wrote:![]()

I guess it's one of those northwood/longhorn/whistler/newcastle type work names, to be tweaked further for marketing. (and now I feel like a gossiping old lady. an odd sensation)
