Arcdevs dubb box (space echo emu) is good - grungy, dubby & free.
P1 tape delay (is it still available?) is a nice one also & free.
Not strictly tape delay - arc devs et-200 (bucket brigade) also free & audiodamage dubstation (v. reasonably priced buvcket brigade).
I always get tape delays & bucket brigade delays mixed up - similar sound I guess.

Project One Tape Delay was reasonably good, but it went missing from the web a while back.

Are there any native commercial VST plugins that do a reasonable tape delay? The delays in Voxengo's pack and the one in Trash may have a bit of the sound, but can't be manipulated like a tape delay.

I was talking about a real RE-201. All you need is a couple of 1/4" cords

and it is by far the best analog delay!

mdsp analog delay - isn't that a tape delay vst also?
& i've got p1 tape delay, but for some reason ableton live doesn't recognize it when I place it in vst plugins folder - although I know it used to?

P1 - i'm sure I grabbed my copy from one of the myriad vst repositories around the web - just can't remember where though.

...and $400 bucks. Fine, but I'll bet you dirt to dollars that this guy isn't really thinking about blowing $400 on vintage outboard gear.

This is pretty much exactly what I made Maelcum for. Very warm, analogish, dub-like tape delay.

I think that one was aiming to do a bucket brigade-style delay. Same for e-phonic's retrodelay I think. There's a tape delay mode in the free Kjaerhus delay, but the delay doesn't respond to modulation the right way. Same thing for the free ConcreteFX tape delay.

I've never seen a new P1 tape delay download link, not sure what happened to it.

I was just throwing it out there.

I actually paid too much ($480) for mine but it was clean with the original footswitch.

I got tired of not having an actual tape delay. I love digital delays but IMO if you want an analog tape delay, you need to buy an analog tape delay.

What's the best Tape Delay?
