There is some nice functionality in osx standard file window which I miss when I use luna: searching, systemwide favorites etc. For example I have my vst folder and soundfonts folder in the sidebar.
Likewise osx provides key macro utilities etc whch are useful if you use standard file, edit and help menus. Not to mention that this is more efficient in terms of screen real estate; as the menubar is there anyway, why waste the upper-right portion of luna's interface with file edit and help buttons?

LUNA is a multi-platform application.
This means that it tends to abstract platform-specific things.
But at the other hand, people like (some of) their platform-specific things.
So it's all a matter of balance between platform-specific and platform-independent.
It's not planned to replace the LUNA file selector by the platform specific one, but it's definitely the intention to improve / extent LUNA's one, by adding a desktop button, and a favorites button where you can store/recall your favorite folders.
