Just looking at the sequence editor (and the composer) - is there any way of defining some sort of time sig, or how many beats to the bar.

By the looks of things everything seems to be set to 4/4. Makes finding a specific spot (from sheet music) challenging

The time signature is set per composition: right-click the composer background and choose "Composition Properties".

Thanks for that..

Feeling foolish. Right clicking everywhere except the empty spaces - thus missing out on a lot of functionality.

That's not yet for the near future.

Support for tempo changes will get more priority though.

An option to work in timecode rather than beats and bars would be handy for working with fluid or free tempo!
