sorry dont quite understand what you are insinuating?

but i meant for all devs, when theres something they disagree with, even you! :)

same in all walks of life, the deeper you go into a specific contemplation, the more lonely and harder it is to walk amongst others.

i remember seeing it mentioned you had a tough time in the past on here? so nowdays you have found a balance? i hope so.

regards,

Post

Hell yeah I'm in balance... since I'm not in the business... yet..

This is resarch.

Rule 1: Do not claim things you can't back up or else you'll get other developers at your tail.

Rule 2: Keep calm when enjoying success with a product,It could
easily backfire if you get too proud.

Got that and now I'll get the heck out of this thread for
a very great product that got all my respect.

Now, who will dare to say that both alike claims are far from truth? You can always write to the developer, but it will probably won't give a heck to correct such errors, because they look OK and give some weight to developer's decisions...

If you can live with that - I do not care.
That is nonsense Aleksey. Sorry but we are two engineers here with a master degree in electronics and Digital Signal processing so don't try to make us look like jerks. It is a well known fact that up and down sampling are to be avoided, you can read that allot of places and you can also see other vendors emphasising that they don't use up and down sampling for that particular reason. You say we got bullshit tests and our other theories concerning the MPL-1 is bullshit but you got no scientifically proof to support that kind of accusations. Can't you just accept that sometimes other developers come up with something that works better than yours? apparently not! Some people here seems to think you are just defending your self against misleading information regarding your products, but we have never said any bad about your products; you are the one attacking us. Regarding our test we have never claimed it to be fulfilling, we have not even said what limiters were in the test so why do you feel you have to "defend your self? As far as I concern no test are complete as you got infinite ways of adjusting the plug-in. Does that mean we should never do tests, because they are incomplete? I don't think so. On the personal site I understand you do not like competition but please try to behave like a professional. OK?

ddrummer, I think you should live by your Rule 1 your self. If you got something serious to say to us then spit it out.

Hmm.. take it easy there Torben. Aleksey commented exactly the same as I did about your test, mainly about how you used presets from the competition which makes absolutely no sense at all. Test is flawed, bogus, marketing in my opinion. So it is in several others opinion too. Live with it. No need to get so defensive about it. Let MPL-1 do the talking itself, it's a quality limiter and will get the respect it deserves. :?

EDIT: About the stereo linking in MPL-1. I personally thought it worked extremely well and like it a lot. I'm the one pushing Aleksey to include it in the first place in Elephant. It sure does not work for all material but a lot of pop/dance music with short bursts of noise/transients benefits tremedously from this un-linked stereo and Torben's implementation of it is by far the best I have seen yet. So kudos to that. :)

Torben, you are talking common words (again I think).

As for the resampling, up- and downsampling are bad in inexperienced hands only. It is all math and if you can mathematically or statistically prove the achieved precision, you are on a safe side - despite what 'general public' says or thinks...

That 'sinewave' test of yours was a trigger for me... I'm a human, and I have feelings and beliefs, and beside that I'm involved in this DSP business. So, next time posting such test please be aware that some who knows how things work may bring some attention to test's limitations.

It is not the issue. The issue is that Aleksey continues to hint towards MPL-1 using bullshit technologies, being a pumper and not for modern music. He tells people that in mails and I have seen people referring to this in other forums. That is not professional behaviour; we have never badmouthed Aleksey or his products.

If that is indeed the case it's very unpro conduct, displays incredible bad manners & could also be construed as the behaviour of a competitor who is trying to sabotage a product he perceives as a threat.
Dunno what the truth of the matter is, but I have no reason to doubt he veracity of your claims - in which case it's shameful in the extreme.

I suddenly noticed how it upset a few of you so seen in that light the test might have been a bad idea.

Ok. I understand, that is indeed not very nice (if this is the case, I have not read trough the thread here really). Anyways, I still suggest MPL-1 should be talking for itself, it's clearly working very well so don't worry. :)

Cheers!

Torben, you are taking it too hard, really. I have never said anything like 'MPL is not for modern music' - where have you got that? I was not suggesting it is a pumper either - only saying that from my evaluation it did pump a bit more than Elephant (but it is also true that all limiters pump at high gain reduction). Oversampled peak detection is also a technology in question (as far as I know iZotope Ozone uses one, too). And of course, I offered to use 50% stereo linking in Elephant to get close to MPL's behavior. That's what some user asked me - to show him how he could achieve MPL's sound. That's about all I've said.

Just to let you know, I'm always trying to be constructive. Beside that, Elephant was available on the market for a long time already - that is why I do not really have reasons to attack (i.e. it is not a brand new product which tries to gain as much of customer attention as possible). So, I'm not attacking, but defending my point of view and my technologies.

thanks for your views and the update, Aleksey!

Aleksey, some of it I got directly and I found other remarks on other forums that was saying about the same thing as I was told in a mail. I want to believe that this is not your ways of conducting business.

Regarding over sampled peak detection being a technique in doubt there are no doubt about it. When you use FIR technique to interpolate the samples you got are the same as the output from the interpolator at that sample moment. There is no phase distortion so the side channel signal is perfectly aligned to the audio signal. You might be right about that it is no big deal to up and down sample but it all adds up so if you can avoid it you should.
