Phaser/Flanger effect with Filterscape

Hi --
Is it possible to create a flanger/phaser type effect using filterscape ? (Preferably one that is linked to time).
Does anyone have a preset that demonstrates that effect alone that they would be willing to share?

Hiya,
check out the smoo presets for Filterscape/FilterscapeVA:
http://www.filterscape.com/index.php?item=listen
There's a really great analog sounding phaser for Filterscape in there.
Chorus effects are not exactly in the scope of Filterscape, as it's focussed on EQ/lowpass/bandpass/highpass/notch but not (yet) on comb filters which are the heart of chorus/flanging effects.
Cheers,
Urs

Thanks Urs - I'll check that out.
BTW, Do you know of any resource that discusses various effects and what they mean in terms of EQ. I'm trying to stretch my usage of Filterscape a little.

Hmmm, I don't think there's any how-to site for using EQs to create certain effects.
But many effects such as phasing, de-essing, multiband compression can be seen as special applications of equalizing, even though these effects are typically not based on equalizers. One could argue that many of these effects are a subset of equalizing and as such, a powerful EQ like Filterscape's can reproduce them.
I have planned to set up a blog for Filterscape tutorials that will cover the creation various standard effects, and ways to exceed this. It's going to include video tutorials, one of my freelancers is already digging workflows for that purpose. However, that blog won't start before I have Z2 finished.
Cheers,
Urs

What comb filter did you pick up ?ah, I'm so glad I picked one of these up!
what can we expect to see?
I've been experimenting a little - and found I can sort of get a phasing like sound by playing around with detuning one of the oscillators and modulating the amount of detuning. One could argue that many of these effects are a subset of equalizing and as such, a powerful EQ like Filterscape's can reproduce them.

Oh - and incidentally I also have zebra - so I could do the comb filtering there - but I am trying to teach myself how to 'do synthesis' and am using Filterscape as the simpler of the two.

ah, no I meant that I recently purchased Filterscape and Urs mentioned that comb filters would be implemented at some point, which makes my skin tingle!chrisstiles wrote:What comb filter did you pick up ?ah, I'm so glad I picked one of these up!

That page says that smoo matched the sound of his analogue gear using the snapshot function on the FilterscapeVA. What does that mean?Urs wrote:Hiya,

Is it playing through the Filterscape/FilterscapeQ6 and then using Ctrl-Click to match the blue curve (incoming audio) and then using the same settings on the FilterscapeVA?

It just means that he used the EQ to create a close match to the spectrum of his gear. No voodoo functions here, just his *ears*chrisstiles wrote:That page says that smoo matched the sound of his analogue gear using the snapshot function on the FilterscapeVA. What does that mean?
