Arturia as unsupported ?

Doing a search on previous topics, it seems Arturia is no longer supporting the Receptor.

Nevertheless, has anyone managed to install the dongle-free VSTi from Arturia via the unsupported method ?

I'm thinking of getting the Vintage Collection, but if I cannot install any synth on my Receptor, I will probably pass on it.

I have tried harder than HECK to install CS80V as unsupported (it's my favorite from the Vintage Collection). After hours of frustration I gave up....it just wouldn't completely install.

I think the issue with this one MIGHT be that CS80V used to be SUPPORTED and there is some special code somewhere in the Receptor App looking for CS80V. I could be all wet on this.

One thing I DO know, however, if that you cannot just pick up an Arturia VST dll from one machine and move it to another (speaking PC's here). At the very least you would have to manually edit the registry. At worst, you have to run the installer which prompts you for the CD (this is their security method). And of course on receptor, there is the fatal problem...you won't be able to install the CD.

My attempts at CS80V on receptor involved using regedit and even manually editing the XML files created by the "unsupported install". It seemed like the CS80V could be "signed" successfully by Receptor, but then it would fail in the final "register" or "add desc" step. Can't remember exactly.

If it's MiniMoogV you are specifically interested in, I highly recommend MiniMonsta as an alternative on Receptor (or elsewhere).

OK, thanks for your reply. Yes, Minimonsta is a possible, but it's the ARP2600 that I was hoping to run. Nevermind.

I'll send an email to Arturia asking about installing their wares on the Receptor. If they get many users bugging them with the same request, they may come back on their decision not to support it. In any case, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Well, I just couldn't leave it alone ;-)

I like a challenge! Guess what? ARP2600V runs fine on Receptor as unsupported. It's a bit involved getting it installed, though. PM me if you are interested and I'll fill you in on the details. Keep in mind you can only change patches through the 2600's GUI unless you save them as receptor patches, which is easy enough and is the case with many other unsupported VSTs as well (those that don't use FXP/FXB as their patch format). Also, the GUI responds a but sluggishly, but man this is one fine sounding synth, and surprisingly light on the CPU as well. I'm glad I did this.

Dang in, I followed the EXACT same procedure for CS80V and it doesn't run. Actually, it runs and makes sound, but the GUI won't render so you cannot change patches.

I just popped into the forum to see about the MinimoogV which I just got today. I really hope this will be supported :help:
Tried to use the unsupported way but it didn't work.

Cheers

Just an update, NONE of the Arturia stuff will work as unsupported unless you edit the registry on receptor. And at this time, no one has gotten ANY of them to work unsupported, even WITH editing the registry, except for the ARP2600V.

Hey Hybernation,

Can you post here detailing how you got the ARP working? I don't even own it, but I'm a bit mystified by the secretive nature of the Receptor forum - why not make the info publicly available...?

It's not the first time someone's said pm for details - surely HERE is the place for details?!

Cheers!

I had a chat with Hybernation, and I can understand why this is a matter best dealt with via pm. There are some info which are potentially dangerous if released publicly insofar as you could tempt somebody who is not technically savvy do things he would regret later.

Absolutely correct. And I was warned by the muse guys not to do that! (could create more support work for them getting people "out of the ditch", so to speak)

Right, so we need another forum for "try this at your own risk" stuff.

That's the problem with official forums.

If someone buggered their Receptor up by doing something like this, and they were warned to do it at their own risk, the responsibility is theirs, so Muse could charge them to fix it.

This is only an issue because of how PAINFUL it is to get VSTs to run on Receptor anyway!

By the way, Hybernation, the roll isn't for you, mate...

What receptor version are you using? I think CS80V is no longer considered "premium" in 1.5. Try 1.5 if you are not already running it.

Tried it in 1.5.2006.03.03 and it will install and make noise, but the gui won't render so I cannot change patches. It's AS IF I didn't enter the license key correctly in the reg, but I'm sure I did. When I first launch the gui for it a pop up says "CS80V not available".

EDIT: Tried is again today after upgrading to the "final release" 1.5.2006.04.18 and it does the same thing. Dang....so close. Oh well, at least ARP2600V works well.
