Kjaerhus GPP-1 or MPL-1 ?

Which one is your favorite limiter and why ?

GPP is not so ideal for loudness stuff, is more a transientcompressor/limiter ("Peak Compressor").
MPL is IMHO the best VST-limiter on the market. It can help to make the sound loud and preserve the orginalsound as much as possible. It sounds very transparent and make the sound more "open" then other limiters.

For a limiter I go for MPL. For GPP I have no usage, I would use a compressor (eg. the GUP) insted with moderate settings.

Was using Isotope Ozone's limiter for a while...but recently tried the MPL. And true enough the MPL is better. Hard to describe, but it's plain better.

Then send a private email to the comapny and I'm sure they would be more than willing to share the brand of the competing limiters used in the tests

Voxengo Elephant is the best mastering limiter

I have both Elephant and MPL-1. They are both excellent, and very, very different. You need both imo. Try the demos, on different types of material. Elephant is better for punchy drums, imo, because it deals with fast transients better. The MPL-1 is more like a Leveller, much smoother, but tends to duck the sound so drums become more squishy than punchy.

I think both are must-have.

Howdy!

The MPL-1 can easily handle transient material but you must do a little tweeking

Here are a few presets: Hot | Clipper | Soft Limiting

I know that many people like to use the MPL-1 on tracks as well because of its low CPU usage but I still think the GPP-1 is a overall better choice on tracks because it got soft variable knee, little latency, can sound warmer etc.

Click the "Load" button, in the middle of the row of buttons (between 'Preset' and 'Save')

Thank you! I see it in the manual now that you mentioned it. Shoulda read the fine print first...

Programs and banks can be saved to file. We use a proprietary file format with ".kpa" extension for programs and ".kpb" extension for banks.
