I've tried using my crossover cable directly connected to the receptor and to the unused ethernet port on my computer, and I turn off both the computer and the receptor, turn then on, and nothing happens. I try running the receptor remote control.exe and it says I don't have a receptor connected. I've also tried bring the receptor downstairs and using my router/regular ethernet cable to connect it to the computer, and still nothing. WHen i reboot, nothing happens. I've followed teh instructions in the receptor manual exclusively word for word and still i get nothing. No communication between the two units whatsoever ..

anyone have any ideas? My band is going in the studio to record our next CD in about 5 days so I'm stressing out!

Any help would be awesome! thx!

First thing first, you need to make sure your Receptor has the same Windows Network name as what your computer has. So check what the network is called in your control panel and see if that's the same on the Receptor. Second, make sure your Receptor is set to Windows Network on. Finally, check your computer to see if a firewall is blocking the communication between the two.

When it is working, it is not the remote software you should launch but Explorer, to see if you can see the Receptor HD in My Network Places. If so, make a shortcut to the drive. Then launch remote.

I will try this when I get home from work kermit, thank you very much for your suggestions! :)

Still nothing .. i checked the windows networking on the receptor and it's on. I renamed the Windows Workgroup on the receptor to Greg (my name). What option within my Control Panel should I be looking at to see what my network name is? Both "Network Connections" and "Network Setup Wizard" don't tell me what my network name is. I even tried setting up a new network and naming it Greg.. turned off my firewall, and restarted, but no IP address connection, and nothing in My Network Places showing the Receptor. I don't get this ...help

One thing comes to mind, are you sure you are using a crossover cable ? They are wired differently from ordinary Ethernet RJ-45 cables that you would use to connect your computer to a router.

If you have a crossover cable, I remember that the Receptor needs to be put in crossover mode (it would be in normal mode as standard). Something you can access from the Setup button, and in TCP/IP, select Crossover. You then need to restart your Receptor.

Now, when in crossover mode, the Receptor acts as a DHCP server. Could it be that your laptop is still conecting to your usual network and the two DHCP servers create some confusion ? In that case, temporarily disconnect the laptop from the usual server (if using WiFi for example).

If all goes well, you will be able to see the Receptor HD when browsing via My Network Places.

Also, you may want to watch the video Ted Rackley made called How do I connect to a computer. It's an 83Mb Quicktime movie.

Between this and my pointers, you should be able to get it up and running.

hey kermit, i really do appreciate all the help you've been offering. I actually got frustrated and called Sweetwater tech support, and they 3wayed me with Muse Research and essentially (with my receptor connected to my router) i opened IE and typed :// and my receptors ip address, and it found it. :)

So i'm in business .. now I'm waiting on Native Instruments to get back to me for crossgrade info on B4 ... they say they take 72 hours and they do take all 72 lol

thanks again!

No worries, I'm glad it's worked for you in the end.

BTW, do to Ted Rackley's site, there's a lot of valuable info in the 8 videos on offer.
