Already half the latency of SIR

FREE to donate. For a very modest price, you can go for the licensed version and reduce latency further + other features.
It looks like a very nice little cookie you got there SB 8)

honki-bobo, Lake Industries got the patent on zero latency so unless you are a big corporation that can pay Lake for permission you have to accept some. Personaly I do not find the latency a big problem because I never add any effects before all tracks are done and it is ready to mix.

It all depends on wether you're using things such as reverbs or other things such as speaker sims. For those you just don't want any latency.

Torben, how could a company hold the patent on lower latency for impulse response plugins? That's completely beyond my mind...

Those who can do maths and those who can't.

As a matter of interest - the Revolverb docs say that it doesn't work with AMD processors.
Not entirely true.
It throws up an error message at startup on my Athlon XP1700.

Then it works like a charm :-)

Sure they would, but a little more tweaking options would be nice
But still thanks for the links.

You're asking for a free plugin.. beggars cant be chosers :P

The patent is for combining time based and frequency based convolution. If you stick to time based you can get zero latency but if you got more than a hundred taps (samples) in the convolution it uses two much CPU. Then you use frequency based convolution instead but that has latency. If you want to save CPU and have zero latency you can combine the two techniques, but that is impossible because of the patent.

Wow, that's quite weird.
Aren't there any workarounds?

Around the patent? No! I heard there was one but I think it was Microsoft who patented that one. I am not sure exactly what the difference between the one Lake patented and Microsoft patented, probably a hole in Lakes patent one a clever lawyer could find. The patent is absurd; they did not invent anything but was just fast to patent that combination of techniques. But a patent is a patent :nutter:

Argh, that's just freaking mad then!
I've just been looking around a bit and there seem to be some petitions to change these sorts of things.
http://swpat.ffii.org/papiere/eubsa-swp ... ell.de.pdf - unfortunately this is in german, but there might be an english version as well. Maybe you programmers should sign that petition.

I actually think there is something being done about that kind of patents (which includes no or little intellectual property or research) but they will probably not be able to do anything about the preset patents.
