from just plugging this thing in, I can see it is completely unusable. perhaps for a crazy lead sound, but really, this sounds like crap.
check my profile for contact info.

yes but you're stating your opinion, and with respect...there's nothing wrong with not liking it and there's nothing wrong with your opinion...but it doesn't have to turn into slinging mud as you have proved...;)

I didn't think it was that great either. It sounds like a distortion pedal, like a Boss Metal Zone or something. It's very digital sounding. If that's your thing then you'll probably dig this too. It happens to not be my thing.

I'm sure it'd work nice for driving simulanalog's jcm900 plug like the original poster suggested. I didn't get to try it because for some reason everytime I try to insert it in a mono track it crashes my Cubase. It works fine on a stereo track, though. But of course simulanalog isn't stereo, so, yeah.

I didn't find it to be groundbreaking myself...I'm still looking for the pluggin that makes me want some amp pluggins...so far one has yet to come along...I can see how some might like it and I'm sure tweaking around with it I could find some interesting uses for it, but yeah it is too digital sounding for my tastes...but what I have now still fits my needs and then some anyhow...I didn't save it...but I could revisit it in the future...:)

Hi!

The plugin is OK; another U.S.able tool to make sounds (Thanks, Piotr).

... But contrary to the original intention, I've obtained good sounds with smooth distortions... :ud:

Greetings,

My internet computer's CD drive is still acting up so until it's fixed i wont be trying this out on my main DAW which has the soundcard for my guitar.
I did however try this with some synth plug ins and i gotta say it is very good.
Thanks for this!

I wasn't very impressed with the Jcm 900 VST either, even with the boss SD-1. The sound is extremely poor when compared to a hardware guitar effects processor. Super Distortion? Hardly. I tried Freeamp, the tones sound halfway decent, but I can't get much distortion out of the thing, it's weak. It's even too weak for hard rock. At least Extremist has a lot of distortion. I tried extremist with the JCM 900, helped in some ways, hurt in others. Not sure if you can chain effects in Fruity Loops, I wanted to put Extremist in front of JCM 900, properly.

Anyway, so far I've been disappointed with guitar effect VST's, especially when it comes to getting a good death metal sound. I'll stick with hardware for now. It was fun playing around with Extremist though, perhaps it will be improved. If someone can actually get a usable sound from it, please post some soudfiles, along with the patches.

i thought this thing was pretty cool. you gotta tweak the piss out of it, but it gave some good starting points. plus its free.

A-B-C comparison, here: http://www.filegone.com/7kgq

Sample: Cornbaby from NI's tapedeck

A = Dirthead (custom preset)
B = Extremist (Death #1)
C = Mystery (he he)

1st riff = w/out spkr sim
2nd rpt = with spkr sim

Me still like C more, esp. the bottom end

Thoughts?

@Dave
I seem to hear the dry guitar signal mixed with the distortion.
Can you please check that?

Otherwise I agree, C is the best sounding from the three.

Just to clarify the order is Dry,A,B,C then rept.

Or do you mean you can hear the dry thru the distortion (@ same time)?
