The key command is "Show Tools" and is assigned to the ESC key by default. There is no way inside Logic to assign a key command to the mouse - which is why that toolbox option was added to the prefs.

You simply right click on a tool, and that tool assignment stays on the right button until you right-click on a different tool.

Do you have something like USB Overdrive installed, which has taken over your right button's functionality in Logic? You can use that to execute key presses on mouse clicks on an application by application basis...

hehe that's kindo ironic, I'm actually googling for Overdrive now to see if it can help :D

Nice one on the right click on a tool hint! Gonna try it out.
you ARE full of little Logic tricks...

Just a thought; go to System Prefs (not in Logic, in OS X), go to Keyboard & Mouse, click the Mouse tab, and make sure your right mouse button is assigned to "Secondary Button", not anything else.

:tu:

Thanks beej for the USB Overdrive hint! :hyper:

Case closed..

Thanks JumpingJackFlash for chiming in anyway ;) (though I don't think my mouse panel has that option)

Case maybe closed but I'm still curious as to how it worked on your computer before all this..? :bang:

Weird. You *definitely* *sure* it used to behave like this? Or have you been at the funny mushrooms again..? :hyper: :D

hehe beej my sentiments exactly...
false memories??

Nah I think there must be a hidden keystroke for it and I hit it twice, once to enable the trick, once to disable it again.. :?:
Must be, unless Logic is flawed :hihi:
Or I really was going all neuronal for a while there

Hey beej something odd occured to me – after trying many different key commands as a 'substitute' for my right click mouse trick I ended up choosing the "+" key on my number pad (as I found the "esc" key useless, sitting on the upper left corner of the keyboard.

While trying to get used to the "+" key, my index finger was constantly mysteriously drawn to the "numlock" key all the time.. so I changed it back only to find out the numlock key IS another 'esc' key – ie Logic default!
Using it to pop up the toolbox feels like I've worked that way for ages!
 :nutter: :D

I think there's a simpler explanation to all this.

Your computer's phucked... :D
