Er, maybe this has been answered before but does it have to be a plug in? I thought this was more general and I might have a nice idea for an application...

What about installers? Are they allowed or do I just have to zip every single file to one package? Ofcourse I'll zip the installer , no doubt about it. As far as installers I do prefer to ship my plugins with one. Just because this makes it harder for the voters to detect if a plugin is a SE plugin. Oh and another thing, Don't write text in the about field when rendering SE VST's, this makes the plugin a bit more annonymous. I'm trying to convince Jeff to allow embeded modules just for the sake of aesthetic look and feel.

I put my name forward although I didn't make the list on the first poststefancrs wrote:I don't think anyone else using SynthMaker has joined the competition yet, and it's not like it's impossible to spot if a dll comes from SynthMaker or not, would make my product quite non-anonymous...
Mine is probably going to be done in SynthMaker as well so there will be at least two of them

I thought the idea of anonymity was abandoned?jobromedia wrote:What about installers? Are they allowed or do I just have to zip every single file to one package? tuz approached me last year when he originally wanted to get this up and running, and I was less than helpful (lack of time being the main factor). However, I've been following this from a distance and it looks like a little bit of help should be forthcoming from me / KVR. I'm happy to promote this at KVR (banners and links when/where necessary), and I can act as escrow for any donations. Donations can be made via PayPal from http://www.kvraudio.com/developer_challenge.php -- this page should also contain full details of the competition - when the details are finalized perhaps tuz could let me have the text (rules, times, etc.).
Regarding an area for beta testing, I'll happily set up a new "Developer Challenge" forum category, which can contain a general chat forum, and various private beta testing forums that each developer can have control over (including giving people access to), if they require one. Tuz can manage the main chat forum.
The entries can all be uploaded and hosted at KVR when the judging is to commence and we can have a proper voting page.
Would this help?
Any other things I could add?

Thanks Ben!
Just wanted to cast my vote in favor of anonymous entries-- maybe not to go so far as to require generic gui components, but at least ask that you don't put any obvious identifying marks in.
On the other hand, if tuz is putting up his own coin for this thing, he should have the final say

well if you spend more time dissimulating that you are the author, then such a contest is useless.MopisKevin wrote:Thanks Ben!
