pj, check _this_ out:
i finally found a site where the _real_jmj
sounds were showed off individually, as mp3!

this is the stringmachine (the eminent 310u, which is the early big brother where they "isolated" the arp solina stringmachine from) he used on oxygene, feed through a electro harmonix smallstone phaser.
so that's the real thing.
as it is completely isolated from the track, this might be the best possibility to really reverse-engineer your phaser when it comes to this particular sound-task ...

Good question - I don't want to fall back on my old habit of claiming to be really bad at marketing; but it is still probably true

I will be releasing NXTPhase shortly -and- I do owe an update to the people who have been patiently waiting for the next incarnation of NuBi (NuBi+ in this case).

It will all happen this week!

Isn't there simply a very small delay in the left channel to add to the effect in that clip? It doesn't sound solely attributable too the phaser....

yes, there is, but the file is not from me, and it's the only file i found that represents the _eminent 310u strings_ through a smallstone/misstress phaser.
i do have a smallstone myself (modified to work stereo, basically it's 2 smallstones controllable as if it would be one), and i have a solina, too, but:
- everything is packed in boxes, as i move with my studio ...
- a solina doesn't sound the same as a eminent 310a at all ...
- jmj used a delay (with short feedback and highcut) on the phaserstrings to actually make the sound stereo, as both, the eminent and the smallstone/misstress, are mono (eminent hardpanned left, delay hardpanned right) ...
- exept there is a slight delay on the sample one can still clearly identify how the phaser sounds, the delay doesn't colour the signal at all ...
so basically it represents 1. the eminent 310u going through thephaser, 2. the sound of the phaser very real ...
