You expect a team of people to go out with all sorts of specialist equipment and experience to record a very difficult instrument in a difficult acoustic environment, come back home, trim, loop and program it all up and then just give it away for FREE??? Oh FFS! Get real!
And yes - organ samples will have reverb/ambience on them (free or otherwise) ... it's a part of the sound.
Hey - here's a thought... go and sample the damned things yourself.
Then... when you've done that with hundreds of Mb of data, set up a website (with a HUGE - and costly - bandwidth allowance) to share that work FOR FREE!!!

Hmmmmmmm

thank you rune, bambooman.
hollowsun - chill out - i respect your works !
dont spill your frustrations on me -
i know you had a site and you shared lotsa great samples for free.
thank you for that effort !
i just asked ! i know how hard it is to sample and share but
I JUST ASKED !
and g-town samples are great but they have a specific big verb
( that was the purpose of sampling that - if you read their specs )
so is really hard to use them everywhere ...
sharing:
the most interesting (free) found sounfont was this:
Organ Theater
http://www.sf2midi.com/index.php?page=sdet&id=7628
very lo-fi yet moody and good.
and btw - you can download most of my ( makunouchi bento ) music
and some soft for free - on my site:

Thanks for mentioning this. For a little survey you get this Rigoletto, that's nice.Rune wrote:Precisionsound has a free Koestler Rigoletto:

Don't know if it quite fits your needs, but thought I'd mention it

I have no frustrations and I am certainly not spilling them on you - I am just constantly amazed at the expectation of FREE all the time and when 20 bucks for detailed professionally made multi-samples of an extremely difficult instrument is considered too expensive!wakax wrote:dont spill your frustrations on me

Some people do and don't expect anything in return, it's called generosity or just the wish to share things with people( the ones you call "freeloaders" constantly). Some people code entire OSes, great programs, books and share them for free too.hollowsun wrote: [rant]

As for 20 dollars being nothing, well it may be nothing for you. It may indeed may be nothing for people who live in developped countries(perhaps most people on this board, but absolutely not the vast majority of people in the world) where it represents the price of two pints at the pub. In some developping countries though it's more than 10% of the average income. And yes those who live in these countries also have computers, and yes they also make music and yes they also need samples.

Good luck to them but don't point the finger at me - I maintained a comprehensive freebie service for 4 years until 30,000 people a month bled me dry and I couldn't afford to keep it going.loomchild wrote:Some people do and don't expect anything in return, it's called generosity or just the wish to share things with people( the ones you call "freeloaders" constantly). In the case of most freebie samples, I think you'll find that in many cases, the quality is often low - maybe just one sample to cover the entire keyboard range and/or unlooped, whatever.
Just expressing an opinion!loomchild wrote:You have no frustrations but you can't help jumping on that one.
Actually, it is. I too have to consider carefully where my dollar (actually pound) goes. But at the same time, I have to consider my priorities... a night out on the piss with my mates at a club/pub or a sound I really, really want.loomchild wrote:As for 20 dollars being nothing, well it may be nothing for you.
I sympathise and understand. I also know what it's like to be totally broke with no money and unable to pay bills, etc., as it happens so don't insult me! But that's no justification ("I can't afford to buy a car ... where can I get one for free?"). Are you suggesting that sample developers be charities for those that can't afford to indulge in their hobbies/professions?loomchild wrote:In some developping countries though it's more than 10% of the average income. You have noble sentiments I am sure but the reality is very different, believe me.
