Can someone recommend an effect that adds harmonic partials?

runagate, you'll want to make sure not to link directly to the download on the Auditorium, Peter doesn't like that sort of thing. Just edit the link to point to the page.

And to Mr. Perrin, note in the passage you cited the word 'like.' As in "I want an effect that is like a synth where you just draw the little partials." Perhaps you missed that this was the effects forum, and that effects offer some benefits to synths or samplers when dealing with certain kinds of audio.

I'll pass on insulting you in kind, but if you feel the need to attack someone simply because they don't immediately cotton to your suggestions, please take it to some sexy chatroom where they get off on that sort of thing.

My money paying job is over-rated.

Woopsie did I?
Odd thing is I posted a song about 30 seconds later that I'm sure wasn't a direct link because I tested it but apparently my tired brain sometimes zaps out at 4 am.
Thanks for the heads-up.

*Edit*

I edited the links to not be direct.

By Jacob's Ladder I meant the alkaloid in the movie of that name, where the guy gets
all paranoid & angry. Tim Robbins was in that - it's sort of like Shawshank Redemption on lots of datura/jimsonweed.

I am indeed trying to get audio to midi of various sorts to work.
It's not so much that I want the additive partial sound, it's that it was one idea I had to beef up vocals + fx so that it was a more complex waveform.

Well, I've been experimenting live with dtblkfx, Lost Technology, TolcBocs and
SuperEel2 in a live context since I wrote this post in February.

Once I got past my mates being too loud and halted the ceaseless feedback it all
worked well. I just reformatted my hd so hopefully I'll be able to record again soon.

So I'm just checking to see if any new developements along these lines cropped up
since I posted last...?

Yeah, the "I don't care" smile gets you halfway, but you forgot the rolleyes. Believed by many round here to cast an instantaneous stain of denigration.

Nobody has mentioned what you want so far.

What you want is Resochord, for Reaktor, from Electronic Instruments 2. Check it out, I think it's exactly what you're looking for.

Post

...definately check out Anarchy software's HarmonicAdder. Comes with an envelope and all.

Um, you're not sucking me into that Reaktor crowd (mostly because I can't afford all that, cripes I'm a musician!) and, being friends with rachmiel, that is a sad thing.

How did your quest for audio-to-midi go, dubbyah?

By the way don't torment rogerperrin - I forgot that was in this thread so long ago.
It was just a new inhaler medication mishap - it's not like when I fought 5 cars full
of cops in a dxm/psilo misunderstanding.

    Thank you for your hilarious humor, Runagate, and your kindness, compassion, and human understanding. You are a gentleman, indeed, Sir. I took on more than one misperceived slight that week. :D :D :D

I know this is kind of different from what you asked, but adding harmonics to sound is something that overdrive distortion does. A plugin like Cyanide will add partials to a sine wave (or any other waveform). The shape of the distortion graph will affect which partials are added, of course. This is not exactly a way to add custom partials! You get what you get. But if you're looking to "complexify" a sound, maybe soft distortion is something you might try?

Also consider RubyTube (is that one still out there?), and other saturation/distortion VSTs.

kt granulator may not fit the description, but its output does
