So, Urs... uh... this is great fun!
I was about to get Albino2... and I waited... and waited... then I started seeing posts about Z2.
I checked it out. I bought it (well, the "beta" version)... and it's simply fun.
Thanks for a cool product. Can't wait to see the final.

I bought it a few days ago. I had only tried the demo for a few hours and for some reason just felt the need to get it. Haven't actually seriously made music for years, but I feel that this helps me get started again
Finally something that reminded me of my former Kurzweil K2000 and (now in a separate computer because of the OS issue) Korg Oasys PCI. Of course very good sound too and an elegant _productive_ GUI without unnecessary flash.
I have played with it for only a few hours but I can say I am not disappointed. Fun fun fun - I can see myself using this as my main synth, actually the first VSTi that "clicks" with me in a way.
It's very easy to get the complexity up in a cohesive and musical way if you want to. And it gets "organic" too.
Heh heh, I didn't even know about those OSC FX when I bought it!
I wish it had some kind of sample OSC, even a simple one with some mapping. But that's mainly because I wouldn't want to use anything else than Zebra 2, under this GUI and with these modulators, controller assignments and so on
But by all means get the final version out as you have planned first!
Oh, and will there be a fuction to duplicate OSC settings and such in the final?
I'll try to make some presets at some point - I did some for the Oasys PCI.

First off, thanks for your appreciation!!!spritex wrote:Oh, and will there be a fuction to duplicate OSC settings and such in the final?
Then, yes, there will. There's gonna be "module presets", so you can save/load/copy/paste settings for oscillators, MSEGs and, uhm, maybe some other folks, if complexity justifies the effort...

Mind you, I only now found the ModMatrix. Since I had been modulating all kinds of stuff without it I didn't really miss it.
Then I was wondering, hmm, it would be very cool to be able to modulate Reverb depth with a LFO. And there it was, in the ModMatrix!
This is really cool. From what planet did you come Urs?
Oh, I know you are in Berlin.
My favourite city, by the way. Stayed in Kreuzberg for almost two weeks last summer. Currywurst and clubbing! Saw Aoki Takamasa and Pole in Watergate, great gigs - and lots of other things.

This still has a little bug though (ouch!) - the modulators that are part of voices, such as envelopes and lfos just stop when a note stops. But they ought to play on when being assigned to an effect parameter - i.e. when the release of an env for reverb mix is longer than the one for voice volume
(Urs makes a note and better looks into it soonishly)

Here's what I just messed around with. Just a snippet with 3 instances of Zebra2:

But... I used a global LFO so I didn't have that problem as you can hear.Urs wrote:This still has a little bug though (ouch!) - the modulators that are part of voices, such as envelopes and lfos just stop when a note stops.
Ah, have to go to sleep now. This is dangerous. Gotta go to work tomorrow.

I've been trolling KVR and other sites looking for soft synths writing mini reviews as I go along and then "a/b-ing" them later to narrow down which I'll purchase. Zebra 2 didn't make it to that point. 15 minutes into it I'd decided to do a pre-buy! With lots of "pretty cool" instruments out there, it's so refreshing to find one that's got it's own great personality. Only a few VSTs have impressed me so (Sytrus! Korg Legacy!) much where the Visa gets wipped out without second thought. Great job! Also, while you're at his site buy Filterscape too, you won't be disappointed.
