The plug-in count is pretty sad, I imagine most people will offline process with it rather than keeping it live. UAD-1 users were crying for UA not to spare any expense at getting it right so I guess we got what we asked for. :?

There's also a light version of it that will leave off some of the modeling (most likely the the output transformer part). It probably sounds more like the URS.

Yes, you can get three stereo or five mono instances, on a single UAD-1 card. According to UA, this is because, like the Pultecs, the UA modeled Neve 1073 upsamples to 192k, in order to get the resolution the numerics required to accurately emulate the filters. People that have compared the plugin to the real thing say it is spot on.
Along with the 1073, a less DSP intensive version(no upsampling), is included. Using the 1073SE, you can get (15) stereo or (16) mono instances, per card.

I am seriously bummed about the latency thing, I really think that it will only hamper my work flow to have a UAD, I run at 6.5 ms which would add up quickly as I used more instances...
:(

Does Babyasoft not have latency compensation, then? :nutter:

I got this in an email blast from Universal Audio, last night:

UAD-1 Version 4.3 Scheduled to be Released June 1st, 2006!
The highly anticipated release of the first plug-in resulting from the Neve/UA partnership announced in January is now just days away! Version 4.3, which includes UA's emulation of the classic Neve 1073 equalizer, is scheduled for release on June 1st, 2006. Full functional, 14-day demos of both versions of the 1073-- the full version and the DSP optimized 1073SE-- will be included in 4.3. If you think you've heard what a Neve EQ sounds like in a plug-in before, you're about to find out that for a classic like the 1073, beauty is much more than skin deep. You're about to find out what the Neve sound really is. You're about to fall in love with your UAD-1 all over again.

Yes, I want my Neve 1073!

Now that is what I call effective copy!

I own the UAD-1 and one of the restrictions I experience with the Pultec is that it won't load when placed in a chain of other plugins. It's sample rate is not compatible with the other plugins so the latency can't be compensated for and it won't load.

Perhaps I'm just not setting up the card correctly but I don't have this problem with my Poco plugins or any of the other UAD-1 plugins.
I appreciate the sound quality of the Pultec so I make a concession for this restriction but if the Neve is going to have the same restriction then I'm unsure whether to buy it or not.

I rountinely use the Pultec EQ with other plugins, without any problems. Most of the time it is with other UAD-1 plugins. I regularly use the Pultec together with the LA2A, 1176LN, Fairchild 670, Plate 140, Precision Limiter, DreamVerb, RE-201, CE-1, Dimension D, RealVerb Pro. Sometimes, with 2 or 3 other plugins, in a single FX chain. I have Pultec populated FX chains, using the Pultec, saved in Sound Forge 8. I usually work in a variety of host apps, SONAR 5.2, ACID Pro 6 & SF8, normally @ 24/44 and I've never had a problem loading the Pultec, irregardless of sample rate or latency. What hosts are you using? What does UA support have to say about it?
