There is a new entry for Receptor at Plugorama, one that comes with 256Mb RAM and a 160Gb hard drive.
Now, it's $400 more than the previous model with the 40Gb hard drive, and yet I cannot see any change apart from the bigger drive, and that drive on its own is priced at $129 as an option.
Have you guys raised your pricelist or are there extras that are not mentioned on the web page ?

Ah, ah... the price is back to what it was, $1599, but you still get a 160Gb drive.
I hope you flogged the web designer

Hi Kermit,
Just to let you know, the price will be going up from $1599. We have changed manufacturers, so now Receptor is "Made in the USA". And we are also making the 160GB drive the standard, since many people were upgrading from the 40Gb drive size anyway, with the advent of Super Huge sample libraries for plugins, a la BFD, EWQLSO, Colossus, DFH, etc.
We'll let you know when we finally decide what all of the costs are going to be...

Hi Ted,
Yes, a 160Gb drive makes sense. Bummer about a potential price raise though. Hopefully it won't have too much of a negative impact.

We don't think it will. Most of our customers see it as a "premium" product anyway. I mean, it is a sound module that can get you the best acoustic and electric piano sound, the best Hammond/Leslie organ sound, the best bass and drum sounds, etc. all in one box, and you can take it to the gig or take it on tour.
Have you seen our artist page?:

Pretty exciting stuff, and we haven't even got everyone up on there yet...

Hahaha, love you too.
I am a classical bassoonist by trade, I play with the Florida Grand Opera orchestra during the "season" which is fall/spring here in Florida, when all the cultured snowbirds are in town.
To augment my income, I have a project studio in my home . I am the sound designer for GableStage in Coral Gables, Florida. It is a fairly highly regarded regional theater that does primarily edgy and serious theater. My receptor is my key piece of gear, really...it allows me to keep my powerbook g4 1.5 pretty lean and mean since I do most of the heavy lifting on the receptor. It has been a godsend for me because I need to keep my rig mobile, but I also rely heavily on the spectrasonics instruments for composition, and also BFD: which slaughters my powerbook but runs just fine on the receptor. The only software instrument that I run off of the powerbook is the Miroslav Philharmonik, because of the whole Steinberg dongle deal.
Thanks for asking, keep up the good work at Muse and on KVR. Its a great community of musicians.

Hey man,
Send us a photo of you posing with the Receptor. Maybe we'll add a user page to our website or something fun. Show us your Receptor!
By the way, we have a new Receptor Rev "C" available (previous models I'm calling Rev "A"). We have switched manufacturers from Taiwan to "Made in the USA", so the price has gone up a little. They look the same on the outside, but the insides have changed. The old DSP processor we were using was discontinued, so we are using a newer one at the same clock speed. This also required newer RAM, (PC3200 instead of PC2700), and a different motherboard.
We have made the 160GB drive the stock drive upgradeable to 400GB. The original Receptor stock drive was 40GB.
It's a little faster than Rev "A". For example, with a synth patch in MiniMonsta, on Rev "A" I got 22 voices of polyphony, on Rev "C" I get 24 voices. Using a string patch in Kompakt that was getting 200 voices of polyphony, you now get 256. So that's 9% faster with synth plugins, 25% faster with Kompakt. Just goes to show that how a plugin is written can make a big difference in polyphony counts.
If you guys are looking for a killer deal, or have been waiting to pull the trigger, some of our dealers still have a limited supply of Rev "A" Receptors in stock now for a much lower price than Rev "C".
Check with them before supplies run out and they only have the new ones:

Hi guys,I think the rules of the forum say I have to advertise this as SPAM at the beginning, so:
SPAM!!
Not looking to offend anyone, but just wanted to let you know, cuz I don't think anyone knows we have these...
We have less than 20 Rev A Receptors still available at different Sam Ash stores across the USA. If you want one at our really low blowout price, call your local store and we can sell you one from a store that still has one. For store locations, check here:

Hi,
When will we see a rev D with the ability to expand the ram? I use BFD drums and some of the delux kits and take 3-4 gigs by themselves....

I did a search on your site and only a listing for RAM and a HD upgrade. Can you post a link to your price?SamAsh wrote:Hi guys,

I actually had a Receptor last year but had trouble with it, returned it but now that Uniwire is out, I'd like to get one, again. The trouble is I spent several hundred dollars on cross-grades and want to know if I can get my licenses "restored" on the new one. So, I've got a few messages into Muse about this.
Is Sam Ash and Guitar Center related? Your sites look almost the same.
Welcome to KVR, where the PC vs. Mac debate never ends.
