If I put the text on the pedal I loose flexability of keeping the LED indicator there in a nice clean way. I was going to make the word a big LED but it didn't pan out and is too time consuming to bother with it. I'd prefer to keep things as is for now and only as a worst case scenario/contingency further tweak the pedal steps.
Option: Remove the LED, and let the text light up when the pedal is on ...
I tried that and it was hard to get it looking realistic. I have to take some shortcuts because I do not use 3D rendering software, etc (yet). So though I could spend hours getting it to work and look somewhat realistic, it's not necessary IMO because what is currently used is very similar to the old version and thus it's automatically one of those things the existing users will feel ok about. You know?

I wish I had more time, but as it is this project is longgggggggg over due :)

I also tried icons for the foot pedals, and it just didn't look right. It looked like EgyptianAMP :) with hieroglyhpics.

@spuddle; thanks. Ya I know what you mean about the speaker I'll think about what to do there. I had considered drawing a full cabinet frame, but it looked stupid when I drafted it out. The line divider doesn't look that bad to me, but I know what you mean. Maybe I can put some lighting or something there to make the speaker look more separate or a smoother transition from amp control surface to speaker mesh.

I think after everything is done a more sound judgment can be made regarding the layout and diff pieces of the UI. For now, I'm going to continue with what I have got going on to save time and move closer to completion.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, I value it, please understand that I have to make some hard decisions and sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong. I hope you can understand this and hope that by saying these things I am not coming off as an asshole. To justify this though consider if every tiny thing I did was passed through for a public vote --- it's like working for 10-20 clients at once all with different idears :) Pretty scary! :P

Can you be more specific? Which switch? The gate or the trem or the steel flipper variety used all over?

Nah - stick with the LED. I think it's a universal sign of "on" that all guitar players can understand. And it looks cool (I like glowing things). :hihi:

grymm u aint bein an asshole ur bein a champion :D

i reckon the led looks good, and a text-in-pedal-that-lights-up-when-pressed effect would look strange....

that point about the speakers line divider thingy tho - i agree it needs a bit of work - but i also agree that you should focus on gettin the more important things done...

Come out with your hands up pedals! We got you surrounded!

:hihi:

Yes, I am that cheezy and that fried at the moment.

Same screen as before, not going to repost the image, just go back a page.

Sorry yes, I refer to the steel flipper ones e.g. on chub and variac. They look odd when you have that black underline on the tip also as the light is on top you appear to have it the shading reversed with the underside being brighter than the top?
What do ya reckon?

Ahh that's me being lazy :) I'll fix it to look nicer. It's not hard to change stuff like that. Let me have a go at it now.

@spuddle; refresh, they look more real now. I forgot to put the shadow under the flipper and you were right on the tip. Good eye. ;)

Looks good now sir :)

yea mic and switches looks good - hey i noticed the stuff at the bottom too - does that "synth setup" expand a menu out or something? Is it a button or just a label?

I ditched the outline around the text labels -- it looks cleaner without it.

It will be the synthesizer inside freeamp from what I know of -- Joe is adding a whole synth inside of the beast. The UI for that will cover the pedals. It's going to hella dope.

SWEET!!!

First @ GrymmJack :D :D :) Very cool 8) Me likes the RED

@ matthewjumps, There will be a synth section that will open over the pedals (Paged) when you click the synth button! The synth will not be like my others in the sense that there is no oscillator per-se! It will use the output of the amp\guitar and placed before the time FX "delay\verb"
The gate can be set for full strums or faster picking and will trigger two filters w\envelopes a modulation section and an amp w\envelope. All modulation will be able to be host synced or manually adjusted for its speed. 8) as of now I have the filter and amp section finished and will work on the modulation setup this weekend, BTW it sounds real cool :D anyone with request for the synth please let me know?

And don't beat up grymmjack too much on the time frame, we will get it done. Even after I recieve the graphics I will still have to change a lot of the switching that is currently in v1.5 and then add all the new features, none of the new stuff is added to FreeAmpSE Yet!

Thanks all for your help and interest.

Here's a nicely rendered 3d speaker cone that might be useful:

It has an alpha channel...
