FL Studio has had curved automation clips since v5, that speeded up my workflow immensely. I was quite shocked when I found that Live, being very clip oriented, doesn't have preset automation clips (curved or otherwise).

I'm afraid you might be outnumberd by people who need over 128 automatable parameters to finish a tune

Can't you just stay with Live Lite then? :?:

some of the restrictions are a little tight.

cannot assign midi parameters.
cannot use midi sync.

maximum of...
2 unique clip automations.
2 plug-ins (one vst, one vsti)
4 scenes
1 send/return channel

it takes work to work around them.
Then just use what you need in the full version. I think creating two versions would inevitably force the price for the full version to go up.

Don't you find reading text on screen fatiguing? I find it gives me headaches after 5 minutes. Young eyes I guess.
I think it's different eyes. My eyes will be 55 in 18 days and I have a real problem reading anything in print now. The screen is much more clear and I can zoom to whatever I need to. It's not fatiguing to me at all. I know your comment wasn't directed at me, but since I have eyes that qualify as old, I wanted to add my 2 cents.

Create "Group" from track selection
A nice mixing feature would be to select several tracks then right click and select group. Then the tracks would all send their output to a new audio track called "Group 1". The tracks would all get moved next to each other and and the "group" could be expanded or collapsed to show/hide the group's children tracks. Group tracks could have their own scenes that play all the clips in the group's row.
This is bascially an encapsulation idea for all you OO heads out there. It's a bit like a folder track for all you conventional types. Actaully the ability to click-shrink/click-expand any track in the session view would help too.
That sounds like an awesome way to do this - very Ableton. :D
Have you suggested it on the official FR forum?
Yes, but no one has responded

Interesting. Despite the fact that I prefer reading in bed or recling on a sofa reading on screen is jsu not comfortable. And I am curious as to how you zoom? Is this possible in windows XP?

I read books on my Palm Tungsten E handheld all the time...it's great! But that's fiction mostly, not user guides and manuals etc...

I do find that I tend to print out large manuals and end up never using the printout... :P

I think for me its handier coz I like to flick to sections at the click of a button (and I like the links to other sections that the pdf version has). I find it alot quicker and leaves me with less stuff cluttering my desk. But thats just me. I didn't mean to suggest that they shouldn't release a print version. Obviously having both available makes more sense for them and us.

Yeah it sounds like we're both talkin bout the same thing for sure, so yeah, that is possible what ur looking for. I could be wrong. I've never had cause to use that feature coz I find it faster to cut and paste (or dupicate ..Ctrl+D) but I know for sure theres offsets available in that way for pitch and stuff like that coz it was in one of the built in tutorials.
Synthbuilder wrote:Fix the bug of tempo changes affecting playback of clips
I hear ya. Although I've heard form people who use various programs that Live's algorithyms are second to none (but I can't say from personal experience). If that is the case we might not get that huge an improvement on that front. But lets see :)

Again, I may be mis-readin coz i'm not to good with words but is that different from deactivating a clip using the right click menu (don't know bout mac)

That would be quite handy :)

I don't use acrobat. I am using Foxit and I see now it has +/- buttons. My bad. But I still would rather curl up with a paper copy. I am not that quick any more.

For some reason, it's hard for me to read books now, although I have a considerable number of them. I increase and decrease text size in Firefox as much as I need to with CTR + and CTR -; use Word that allows me to zoom; and Acrobat that allows me to zoom also using CTR +. I can't increase text size in everything (sorry if I mislead you), but I can increase the text size for the overwhelming majority of what I read. My wife, like you, would want the printed manual. Whatever works for you.
