Are there any demos yet? I still can't see why I would need this plugin.

No demos yet I don't think. Soon though. Oh, here's something helpful besides just trying it out when the demo is ready. If you never ever wanted a REAL bass amp for your studio before then chances are this isn't for you!
But, you never know and trying it is always best so keep an open mind Gordy!

Squids,Wade, Ampeg SVX had a nasty delay in shipment here in the US due to some supplies taking a while to get here overseas. I know that MAD shipment prep has been done all of last week so they're FINALLY going out this week! To all esoundz customers who order it THANK YOU for your patience. You are still going to be some of the first to get it from here in the US. Usually IK products ship at the same time world-wide. This time Europe had it a little earlier. But, we do our best from our side!
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to it.

I typoed....it's a 50s strat..hehehehe. Anyhow, I didn't mean to derail the thread. It always comes out as more of a rant than intended. Also, the point isn't necessarily to get it to sound the same(I agree with you on that), as much as it is to get it to sound good. Which I can't do with what should be a reasonably good setup.Squids wrote: Oh and a 60's Strat through a 60's Twin? Is there ever going to be anything better than that???? lol
Yes, big deal. It is rediculous that a piece of software that begs to stand alone does not. AND answer this...will AT2 require Chainer with the StompIO? Somehow I doubt it.Squids wrote:To run it in stand alone just use Chainer: http://www.xlutop.com Big deal!
Again, I agree with this 100% IFit controlable in a reasonable fashion.Squids wrote: I wouldn't say it is the definitive REPLACEMENT for vintage gear! It's a tool to use that's all!
OK, I swear I'll stop my whining until the patch comes out.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

I agree - if a bass player (or anyone) can't just fire up Ampeg-SVX, plug in their bass, and give it a go, then it's going to miss a huge market. if you have to hunt down wrappers just so you can give it a try It's going to be branded as "too complex".SJ_Digriz wrote:Squids wrote: ...Yes, big deal. Actually, a while ago someone somewhere on an Esoundz board recommended SAVIhost instead of Chainer (which I had been using). The SAVIhost fix makes it a true standalone--much better than Chainer which is, after all, still a host.Squids wrote:To run it in stand alone just use Chainer: http://www.xlutop.com Big deal!
But I do agree that I am surprised that the Ampeg and AT2 emulations which BEG for standalone access don't have it built in already. Even ST2 now has it!

By the way, SJ, a 50's Strat????? I wonder what THAT must be worth. Dayyyyum. A friend of mine has a 50's Tele (really a Broadcaster). Your Strat must be worth a fortune and sound amazing.

OK, I got Ampeg SVX installed on my computer, and I ran some pre-recorded Bass Tracks through it. Although I have not played bass guitar through it yet, I agree with Squids. I really believe IK and Ampeg hit the mark on this software.
Through a set of Flat Headphones (AKG K240DF) it seems the like the tone, attack transients, and sound pressure inherent to an Ampeg Head and Cabinet were precisely duplicated.
It may not replace your rig at the local gig, but if you want that Ampeg sound on your recording without the hassle of 200 pounds of the gear, then I say this soft ware is damn good.

Like a Kid at Christmas, I could not resist trying out SVX. I hooked up a Lakland Skyline 55-02 and ran it into a ART Studio V3 and then into my sound card. SVX is more versatile than I first thought.
For Grins I tried to make Ampeg SVX work as a standalone software using Savihost. It did not work.
The patches in Ampeg SVX seem to have more presence than either the stock or homemade Bass presets I used in Amplitube 2.
I can't wait to break out some older basses and start recording.

I would have to agree....got my AT2/Ampeg bundle delivered and installed today, and I'm surprised at how good these are. Really added a lot of meat to the sound.

I really think that it is a good recommendation for virtual studio owners to have both AmpliTube 2 and Ampeg SVX as effect plug-ins. The modeling components are really great for production in more ways than even come to mind just thinking about it here. You just DO it, listen to it and go "OHHHHHHHHH, that makes the track do this!!!!" and it is just going to be different than any other plug-in you own! And it will be very classic in its musicality. This is one of the reasons the gear it emulates is also so expensive, because it reacts a certain way or has a certain character and tone that gels with the music! In some ways, it has been kind of a secret amongst people that get into collected vintage gear... but, now, whether you would have spent thousands of dollars in amps and pedals or not for the price of these two plugs you are opened up to a world of different flavors and potential usage.
I am glad it isn't just me saying it though! But, if you don't have these two plug-ins yet then what are you waiting for???? Go over to www.esoundz.com and get it (get the bundle, it is conveniently lower in price for both, using the crossgrade discount plus your member discount and put in SQUIDS as a referer or anyone else you know and get yet another $5. in epointz as well). A GOOD sales pitch. Worth considering? I hope so. This stuff is HOTTTTTT and we've waiting a LOOOONG time for it to be here! Get it and enjoy it! The IK developers did an amazing job with it.
