Even better : Ext + Chainer! Now, THAT would be a cool setup mister. 8)

Gee, I'll bet Cubase wouldn't be half as bad as everyone says it is if ALL THE IDIOTS STOPPED USING IT!

Ummmm....are you serious? You have cubase for such a long time and yet dont now how to do this :o
Well i dont want to be unhelpful but easy search through operation manual should do the trick

Is it possible to resize EXTs window? It doesn't seem to work in cubase.

Cubase doesn't have that functionality.

ditto...

The generic remote in SX is poor, longwinded & unintuitive, there have been posts on the SX forums regarding this pretty much since SX first came out.
It does have other neat features though.

Dunno if this can help but in piano roll you have various midi CC options and assignments.

amen !
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

NOTE TO EVERYONE: DO NOT GET CHAINER! It's a useless piece of #$%! because trying to automate parameters in chainer as a VST, at least with Cubase, is so inconvenient (and sometimes even impossible if the plug has no midi learn) you might as well just not use it. Plus EXT is an on-going project. Chainer is dead. No updates, no improvements... yet it has LOTS of crash bugs.
Chainer is just about the easiest host apart from Bidule to do midi learn with:

How could Steinberg survive without any users whatsoever?

I'll get me coat

:hihi:
No, that wasn't me.

i don't remember exactly but don't these settings offer options like that?
Cubase SX3 even offers five different automation modes: Touch Fader, Auto Latch, X-Over, Overwrite and Trim

Well... That link isn't really talking about using external hardware controllers.
The problem here, is that making a generic control setup in Cubase, is a giant pain-in-the-ass. Most people don't bother with it.

If the world didn't suck, we'd all fling off.

ok ok... but a resolution of 127 is horrible. so... the only way to control things is using Cubase's "front panel" modulation. I don't think even EXT can fix this problem.

Architeuthis:

In Cubase SX, the eXT window will not register when you resize it until you close the window and then re-open it again (this is also true in Acid Pro, I believe). So, just grab the lower right-hand corner of the eXT window, drag it to the desired location, close the gui, and then re-open it again, and you should get the desired result. Be aware that it is not necessary to unload the plug from the VSTi Instruments list (Devices/VST Instruments) or from the track itself, just close and re-open the window. (P.S. eXT and Cubase is indeed an amazing combination!)

Well 128 steps of resolution is the same in any midi app - thats midi standard afaik and only hardware controllers like KORE have higher resolution controls using VST automation. However afaik Chainer does use VST automation not just midi so it can work at a higher res, its just not all controllers will support that degree of fidelity. The great thing about Chainer though is even in an app like Cubase where midi learn is a PITA Chainer can make it work (at least it does in apps I have that don't have good midi learn)
