I'm trying to set up FM7 for live performance. I have managed to save my performance banks as the default.f7a bank, but cannot get this bank into a Receptor Bank. I can't even figure how to copy the patches to the bank one at a time. They all load correctly, but the moment I issue a patch change (set to ignore bank select and target Sources) it gets its patch fom the factory bank instead of the current supposedly active bank.

How do I make this work - get the loaded banks into a Receptor bank, and select from that bank? Thanks.

I think that to use anything other than the currently loaded "f7a" in FM7 with patch changes, you should NOT enable "target source". You should send patch changes that correspond to the Recetorized patches. Not ideal, but I think it will work (and just forget about the "presets" page in FM7 ;-))

Hybernation, all I actually want is access to one bank of any instrumentI'm currently using for this setup. It's just that the system was displaying one set but still selecting from the factory default set. What I have done is to deplace the factory set, finally...

I'm still very, very vague about the hierarchical structure in the patch.bank/snapshot/preset priority schema. I managed to get the patches from my sysex bank into the factory set - one at a time, could not save the bank. But the main problem I had was that saving a patch this way saves the parameters, but NOT the patch name, I had to manually re-name the patch. This was the source of my main confusion, I had been saving the patch to the bank, but because the name was not saved with it, i assumed it just was not saving the data. So now I may (big maybe yet) have the performance set working, i even have volume assigned to cc11 on the synths and B4 - but not my piano or electric piano. It's been an interesting challenge to map my previous laptop/Vstack setup into this new app. I will write it up as a separate thread when it all works, so any other Receptor newbie may get some use, and Receptor experts can show me the error of my ways. it's a moderately deep box, and I am still just on the surface layer, learning to float (like a butterfly and sting like a B-3!) :D

The whole bank/patch/fXB/FXP thing on Receptor is pretty much all greek to me too. I reckon I would have to figure it out to use it live!

I have had some success with several synths by using Sonar or Tracktion to "load" a bank (native inside the plugin, like f7a in this case) then do a "save bank" from the host which creates an FXB, then importing that FXB into Receptor.

Sadly, so many VSTi's are inconsistant with the way they implement FXB, and some not at all. But I think I got the above to work with FM7, and I converted all the factory banks and some add-ons I bought for it.

Yeah, I finally got it to work, more or less, by working with the Receptor bank rather than the direct program change - even though it says it's selecting the plug, it erally is going to he fxb or fxa bank, apparently.

At least I think I an make it work now - whenever I edit anything, I save it in the Patch, the single and the multi, and it seems to work, just a bit of a PITA...
