Thanks in advance for any help offered to my hopefully very unique problem. I love using T2, so this snag is really bummin' me out. I've already searched the forum and can't find anything similar to my situation. I apologize in advance for this long post :).

I just recently joined the ManyTone group buy and bought ManyStation, ManyGuitar and the UBK sound set. I downloaded and installed all of them and got them all to work in T2. I didn't have much time to explore them, so I only got as far as creating a new project, adding a single instance of ManyStation (without any midi track information) and saving it like that. I did call up an instance of ManyGuitar to check if it worked and all was well, I just didn't save the project with ManyGuitar in it.

The next time I opened my edit in T2, I wanted to create a tune that featured only ManyStations. On track 2, I added another ManyStation, but I couldn't get any sound from this one. I played something from the first ManyStation and everything worked fine, but the second instance wouldn't give me anything. My midi keyboard input meter was working but there was no movement on the volume level meters for the track, in the ManyStation master layer or the T2 master volume. So, I deleted the ManyStation on track two and inserted a ManyGuitar; worked perfect. I added a second instance of ManyGuitar on track 3; worked perfect. I switched back and forth between these two and they both worked. I opened up an old project and inserted a ManyStation instance; same problem. I decided to create a brand new project, again with only one instance of ManyStation and I couldn't get it to work. I went back to my original project and the saved ManyStation instance still worked perfectly.

Yesterday, for some reason, I decided to see if I was having any problems with any other vsti's since that's all that I use at the moment. MPad and ASynth both worked fine in a brand new project. Then I tried the mda JX10 and I ran into a new (probably related) problem; dropouts…but not on every preset. What's happening is the sound (along with the volume level meters for the track and master) cuts in and out almost at a fixed interval as if someone is pressing the mute button every 2 seconds or less. And it doesn't happen every time I play a note; sometimes the note plays (I can even hold it down uninterrupted) and sometimes it drops out. And there's different ways it drops out; sometimes it will start, dropout, come back on, dropout again and other times it won't make a sound at all.

I recorded a quick arpeggio, copied the pattern to three tracks (mda JX10, ASynth, Claw), and staggered their entrances to make a short little fugue to test them together. I found that whenever the JX10 was playing, it caused dropouts on everything that was playing simultaneously with it, BUT the track level meters of the working vsti's kept working. If I muted the JX10, everything else played fine.

All of this is running only one to three vsti tracks, no movement on the CPU meter and no exclamation point next to it either. All of my other saved projects work perfectly. I've had T2 since February and have never experienced any problems like this. The only other problem I had was a few days ago, when the ManyStation problem first happened, I did a rescan of my plugin directory and the "hour glass" mouse pointer never went away (I had to alt+ctrl+delete to end T2 because it was "not responding"). I still have the 2.0.2.8 version because I didn't want to upgrade since I didn't have any problems with it and so many were having problems after the upgrade. The only new thing I've done to my computer was download and install the ManyTone plugins. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? I'll gladly post more technical specs if you're interested. Thanks for your help!!!

I can't comment about the ManyStation thing as I don't have it.

JX10 has done some strange things on my machine however, so I avoid it.. there are plenty of better sounding VA synths available these days. DX10 works fine I think.

IIRs - thanks for the reply! I know JX10 isn't such a great synth, but I just wanted to use it so other tracktioneers could relate. I thought that it would be safe to use a low resource synth just to see if there were any more problems. Interesting to see that it's given you some issues too...

Here's an update to my problems:

Last night I played the T2 project with the fugue (see original post) and to my surprise everything was fine. No more dropouts no matter how hard I tried. I even played the JX10 from my keyboard and it was still good.

I opened the project with the saved ManyStation in it and it still worked like it always has. Then I added another ManyStation on track 2 and I couldn't get any response from it just like last time.

Out of curiosity, I went back to the fugue project and added a ManyStation on track 4. I got no sound or level meter movement from it, but the other three tracks worked perfectly.

I'll try posting this in the ManyTone forum. It looks like this might be a problem with ManyStation and not T2 (or is this such a strange thing that nobody has an answer for it) :). My music computer is connected to the internet, so maybe that had something to do with the dropouts?

Is ManyStation multi-timbral? Perhaps it limits you to one instance..
