Hi guys,
I actually have to cover a "USA-Smoothy-Ballad" production as close as possible. The original contains a synthbass in the refrain. It's a short squarewave bass with a light resonant enveloped filter. I already found the synth it was made with (Polysix from the Korg LC, with its very characteristic filter) and I could get it very similar, but the difference is, that in the original, it sounds a tick more old, smooth, analogish, distant (not reverbed!), smeary - whatever, hard to explain... the sound I created is a bit too close, clean, steril, harsh and cold. As if they mixed it with an old analog console, or sent it through a vintage gear.
I know there must be a way to get this and I wonder if it's possible with a plugin I don't know... I'm also quiet sure, that they worked with DAW like me, too. Only thing I can think of, is that they could have used a sample I don't have...
Unfortunately, I cannot post a sample here, because of copyright and non disclosure agreements.
What I already tried beside EQs is PSP MixSaturator and Camelphat. They both did a good job, but not enough. It always ends in a plastic sound instead of that organish original feeling...
So, does anybody has a hint for me?

Ah, and also important: I'm working on Mac, with Logic7 and ProTools HD. So, no PC stuff, sorry...
