I used to use warez quite a bit when I was a kid but now I am also opposed to it. It just hurts so many pockets and feelings. I buy everything I use. But the kind of tactics employed by IK ALSO hurts many pockets and feelings, wankers, I feel like my computer is part prison.

amberience, when freeamp2 comes out, try it. it's free, and very versatile as well. maybe not as shiny and polished as AT2 both in UI and sound, but it's got some nice sounds..and best part: no dongle!

Well...I have AT2 and several other dongled products. It might take 15 seconds to load, I haven't timed it but I have never had a crash. And once loaded, other instances load pretty quick for me.
You might try turning off all the extra options in preferences and saving that. I know it's way more cpu friendly that way. You can turn them on again for rendering.
Of course, I'm on a mac and although we don't have all the plugs available to pc users, macs don't crash very often

Its been reported pretty often that the cracks were more stable than the originals in the case of iLok...

If it was only the loading time of a song!
It takes a long time even on instancing a plugin.
The long loading time is a synchrosoft dongle issue. I cannot see such a behaviour on iLok dongled plugins (URS i.e.). Those take a little bit longer than undogled, but by far not as long as the synchrosoft ones.
I have the Korg LCDE, which is synchrosoft-dongled. I demoed CSR and AT2 from IK, also synchrosoft. It's really annoying to see how long it takes to load an instance of such a plugin. And no, I can't see that it takes long for only the first time. On my system (Mac G5), each time I open a new instance, or even MOVE a instance from one insert slot to another (in Logic), I have to wait UP TO 15 SECONDS! Sorry, but this has nothing to do with a creative work flow. I am absolutly pissed on by this.
