Hink wrote:@ grymjack dude it's 15 seconds...I can assure you that I would never have 15 seconds make the difference between a good track and a bad one...if that's the case you need to do some good ol fashion practice...I'm not usually the one to call people lame whiners and such....but in this case I am calling it as I see it...it is lame to complain about 15 seconds...and no I don't have AT2, so I'm not a fanboy..in fact I am a man, not a boy (can't say the same about people who complain about 15 seconds)...so I have issues  Patience use to be a virtue, now it's an issue....while you guys whine...I'm playing because in my world 15 seconds is a tremendous step up.

BTW I don't know about you, but when I record a take I like...I spend a hell of lot more time listening to the take in deciding whether to keep it or not.

15 seconds...oh if that were my only complaint about things I would be pretty happy...:hihi:...sorry if you feel insulted...if you do feel insulted by my pointing out the extremely obvious, and it effects you that much...then I contend it is you with issues....I mean if it were 15 seconds before every take I could see that...but in just loading once? FWIW latency is a far bigger thing to complain about then that.

so no calling people whiners and lame over 15 seconds is not severe...not at all, in fact I think I exercised restraint...
i don't care personally and honestly, as i don't own it. however i think that 15 seconds is important. by your rationale, the more amount of time you spend waiting for things on a computer is a good thing? what kind of backwards mindset is that? i suppose you want it to take longer to get things accomplished so you can ... i don't know? do what in the meantime while you stand there with axe around your neck and mouse in hand waiting for the machine to catch up to what you are trying to do ... ?

a company selling a product for $300 new and $150 for an upgrade, using dongle crap which slows it down (possibly) and forcing loyal users to do so as well with no alternative to keep the upgrade path alive, AND by proxy of these practices makes us WAIT for it to load, regardless of one time or three times a day, SHOULD care about that 15 seconds because it's 15 seconds the impatient customers could be looking for alternatives that don't make them wait around needlessly. amberience; if you could remove that 15 seconds you would right? of course, and i bet hink would too.

consider this version it's 15 seconds and next version what 30 seconds? a minute? what is the arbitrary amount of time that matters in your world hink? as for patience, personally i'm very patient but when it comes to music and expression i NEED it to be there, ready, without fail. i need to be able to push the button, and start playing, not push, wait with mouse in hand, and guitar around my neck going dum de dum de dum. subsequent versions of products are supposed to improve this kind of thing not make it worse than it was before.

i can relate to what you are saying and i agree to a point, patience is a virtue, but it's also unreasonable for a modern computer which can (if setup to do so and programmed as such) to be slower than hardware alternatives - i have a much faster cpu and more ram in my computer than i do in my guitarport, but i bet if the guitarport needed a dongle it'd take 15 seconds to "warm up" too.

this is the point: we shouldn't have to wait, this is a step backwards, regardless of the time wasted, and regardless of how you can justify the time or how simply unbelievable it is to YOU. i think you'd be singing a different tune if you had to deal with this yourself.

Lets back up, I don't want this thread to turn into flamefest 06. Let each of us remind ourselves that we each work in different ways. Waiting wouldn't cause a problem for Hink, but it does for me. There is nothing wrong with that situation, because we work in different ways mentally and musically.

Lets stick to being friendly with each other.

nah i'm not being unfriendly am i? i'm simply not going to give up and start knitting as he recommends, and someone who tells me i should is going to get a response.

Its just a kick in the balls Hink, I'm sure you can understand that. Lets say FreeAmp 2 had a price. Lets say it cost $50. A product at that price is not going to have a dongle due to overheads.

So a $50 product is going to perform a lot better than a product that is $300 ($150 in my case) ... that's just really backwards isn't it?

I don't think anyone should have to wait longer than a few seconds (in this modern age) for a plugin to load. It would be different if it were an operating system or a cash register... but this is a plugin man... nothing heavy, nothing that should be so intensive that I'm left hanging.

perspectives I guess...15 seconds just isn't that bad...crashing is though...just curious, how long do you play to warm up before recording? :)

Upgrades should make things easier, faster, and better, getting a dongle and increased load times as an update sucks.

I work in a post production studio, and we are used to do a lot of waiting, render times and all that, so 15 second wouldn't cause me to forget what i wanted to do, i'm neurotic, i keep notes, but i won't waste time either, if i can find an option that delivers the same results in less time i go for it, for me faster loading times are one strong selling point.

If you dislike the loading times then sell the software, buy something else, it sucks to own plugins that piss you off, that's the real workflow breaker.

I think it's been well established that none of us like dongles  , and thankfully the only one I have is for software that I only use occasionally at best...I agree 100% with you...but really, you have to prioritize....if it's that big an issue for you than I'm sorry for you and I truly hope things get sorted for you...now I'm off to the pool where they charge us 35 dollars a year for a pool pass, after paying close to 1000 usd a month for rent...but I shrug that off too....35 bux is chump change, and it's worth it for my daughter's sake... :)

I hear yah...but see for me the recording part is where it's at, so I don't care.

I use screen shots of the files used and sooner or later delete all the unused ones... :)

no that part didn't get me hink, what got me was this came out of you. i respect you, atleast what i've seen of your words, and because of this it razed me. when someone you look up to starts telling you to go knit because you are ANXIOUS about 15 seconds and post how you feel, and then calls you lame and says stop whining on top of it, it tends to razz your ass quite a bit.

i'm honestly very patient, but i guess a little thin-skinned when it comes to sarcastic advice. anyway. bye yourself.

no hard feelings...I guess I'm just use to waiting longer and perhaps a little thin-skinned about this "I want it and I want it now" world we live in...fwiw I remember once on looptalk a girl said the way she had her template set-up it took about 40 minutes to load FL....that would drive me bonkers :hihi:
