Hi
Could I bump and add to the now 2.11 kontakt install?
This version seems rather nice. :P
On another note, are we allowed to know what is currently in the process being receptorized? :)

Cheers

I guess the version needed is 2.1.1 given NI's most recent release.

I add my support for getting this as soon as Muse are able. Having Kontakt 2.1 work on the receptor is one of the reasons I just ordered a receptor - so I can store all my samples in one place and play them many instances without having to use the laptop.

I too would like to see Kontakt 2.1 ported to receptor as soon as possible. I updated to 2.1 on my computer to fix some gigasampler importing issues I was having, and that works well now. The problem is, I can no longer save kontakt instruments on my computer and load them onto the receptor. Kontakt on the receptor will not load them, due to a version mismatch.

BUMP for the 2.1 update on receptor.
Thanks in advance.

While we wait on Muse to update the Kontakt2 "user installable" package to support 2.1.1...

not for the faint of heart, but I have it working well on Receptor, and I have documented exactly how to do it. It's been running stable for a few days. You'll need to join the Yahoo group below and look under the "Files" section in "Tips and Tricks".

Hi Muse Any news yet? Just out of curiousity, is it a Work in Progress at all?

Post

Yeah, please comment.
I finally got my receptor and a lot of the patches say they can't work because they were used in a newer version of Kontact (I have 2.11 on PT).

Hi Hybernation
How is your install of 2.11 going? Is it still working fine? I really, really would like to get 2.11 happening and no comment from Muse is scaring me...

I have had ZERO problems, though it took me a while to get the process down (the one that is documented).

Of course YMMV. I have other documented processes that worked for me that have worked for some other receptorites and NOT worked for others. Go figure.

The loading times for large piano libs (SampleTekk, PMI) is greatly improved. That alone makes the upgrade well worth the effort for me. Though the DFD version is bumped up, I haven't seen any drastic improvement in that area (like I had hoped).

Too bad about the DFD. That's by far the biggest problem for me. I'm working on a film score at with K2 on the Receptor with 12 instruments in the multi and it will not function at 128 buffer size 48k with DFD on. I turned off DFD and have all samples in RAM to get it working. It's maxing out the 2G of RAM. Very disappointing. As far as Kontakt goes, I think I'd be better off running VStack or Bidule right on the G5.

Muse, please work with NI to get this right. I don't want to end up owning a toy that is soon to be obsolete. Receptor is a great idea and I'd buy three more of them if it were ready for prime time.

Yeah, if the Receptor updates are not following the PC/Mac versions relatively rapidly, it will make it hard to keep Receptor relevant.

I hate to be negative about this but....this CERTAINLY seems to be the case. And to make matters worse, there is little/no communication out to Receptor customers about "what is coming", what is being worked on, etc. Many many posts like this one, directed at Muse just seeking information, go unanswered (granted, this one WAS answered with "..no timeframe"). It is frustrating.

Post

That is my ONE gripe with Muse/Receptor. That we don't get any new plugs, fair enough since most work as unsupported installs, but to not get updated supported plugs, that's more annoying since we can't update supported plugs by ourselves.

For example, Wave Arts is still at 4 on Receptor when 5 has been out for a while. EVE is at 2 and we still get EVE 1.4, nevermind that there were a lot of versions in between 1.4 and 2.0, etc...

Originally, I thought all resources were directed at OS 1.5 and Uniwire, which I understood as a priority, but now that tey've been out for a while, the rate of supported plugs updates has been fairly poor.

If Muse do not have time/resources to do this, perhaps it would be wise to write a manual on how users can update supported plugs.

I really hope that muse are silent on this topic for some other reason. I'm sure they know that kontact is an important plug for a lot of us - it is why I bought a receptor.
I know a lot of people may disagree with me, but it wasn't until I downloaded some trial premium plugs eg FM7, Pro53, B4II that really sold me on the receptor. This may sound harsh, but a lot of the free VST's that come with the box sort of turned me away initially. I believe the more they push the VSTi by keeping versions up to date and supporting as many as possible, the more people will see the power of receptor.
Anyway, I'm going to take mine to rehearsals tonight cause the B4II rocks - shame I can't get a kontact piano to work though.

Cheers
