Q01: How does Random Mode work?
I could not get the Random mode to work the way I was expecting
- started DK+. Loaded one sample into the first pad
- set [Random] On and set the samples "velo" to 50
- set up a MIDI part with 4 trigger note in it,
When I sent the MIDI to DK+ every note triggered the pad, I was expecting 50% of them to be silent (not necessarily every alternate one)
What am I not getting?
I then added another sample, and set the probabilities to 32 and 33 (approx 25% I guess). These samples were played in approximately equal numbers and something was played on each trigger.
So how does Random mode work?
Here's a guess, the Velo numbers represent the probabilities of the samples being used, relative to one another.
- so two samples, set to velo 50 and 51 will each be chosen 50% of the time
- so two samples, set to velo 100 and 101 will also each be chosen 50% of the time
- so two samples, set to velo 50 and 101 will chosen 33% and 67% of the time
- and one sample, without any others to choose from, would always be chosen, no matter what its velo was.
Is this right?
Q02: Kits listed in the [Menu] ?
Menu >> Rhythm or Sounds only shows the Factory sets ?
Is this what was intended?
Q03 - Kits / Styles and Banks?
While I'm here, I'm a bit confused about the relationship between kits, styles and banks. Is a bank (a .dk+ file) just a combined kit and style, possibly with one or more sequence patterns?
Or is a bank something-else?
TIA

yes, that's if the Random switch is on, you use the velo setting to weight the probabilities,So how does Random mode work?

for even probability you may also set all velo to zero also with Random switch off

a ".dk+" file save both kit mapping and all 24 patterns,Q03 - Kits / Styles and Banks?

but the DK+ styles are saved as ".dk+ seq" files,
the trick is on loading:
if the ".dk+" file is inside a folder which name starts with F
AND this folder is inside the library folder, then DK+ plugin will not load the patterns
from the ".dk+" but it will look for ".dk+ seq" files inside the same folder.
This way the style menu is populated.

Ok, I'm clearer now.
Glad I sussed Random mode, will be very useful (now that I understand it!)
Thanks
